Benzos Benzo causes me insomnia

you need some drug that does not affect REM sleep. most benzos disrupt REM leaving you feeling groggy in the morning(most benzos also have long half-lives so that's also why you are in zombie-mode next day). however, temazepam has been proven not to interfere with REM, and because it's half-life is relatively short, you will feel refreshed and good-to-go in the morning.

even though pregabalin (lyrica) is not a benzo, it is related to them (cousins if you will). from first hand experience, lyrica feels much like alprazolam (xanax) , but less sedative. it is also great for SAD (social anxiety disorder) because for me it made me talk my mouth off. in addition, it does not affect REM sleep like temazepam. the best quality of lyrica is that it is often used to treat opiod and benzo w/d, so you will not get "sick" when or if you make the switch.

i had the luxury of having a lyrica script for over a year, and while i was on it, it worked like a mircale drug. when i was forced to discontinue my usage, i experienced hardly any w/d at all from daily usage of 600mgs per day for 12+months. however, if you abuse lyrica (and even if you don't and follow your doctors prescribed dosage, but to a lesser extent) tolerance rises rather quickly, so you will probably want to only take it 2-4 times a week.

i definitely recommend lyrica, will help improve your sleep quality, is an excellent anxiolytic, and has little to none side effects. but temazepam is on a whole different level :]. but you won't be dissatisfied with either.

which are you going to go with? but i forgot to mention both lyrica and temazepam require a prescription from the doctor. if you can't get one you can try OTC sleep medications like diphenhydramine(benedryl) and/or doxylamine succinate. both work well, but i prefer doxylamine for sleep and DPH for opiates.

As i see it i have several options.

-continue with Klonopin and use sleeping pills
-Use only Xanax as a benzo and combined it with a non-benzo sedative
-Use Lyrica and reduce my benzo intake
-Find some nice neuroleptic and use only benzo when desperately needed

Right now i have a problem going off Klonopin though. Xanax made me feel depressed this morning, because it's half life is short, so i took 1mg Klonopin early in the day. Let's see if i may be able to sleep this night. I woun't take any large dose Xanax this evening around bedtime though. I will do the best i can before my doctors appointment and let's see what he says.

go with the third option! you will find that it won't be hard at all. what are your current benzo doses? ill set up a taper for you...

especially if you shape up your diet, exercise more, reduce your klonopin (or stop taking it at all), and take lyrica daily. once you get off klonopin, you will eventually be able to stop lyrica with little to no troulbe.

Yeah, i knew you would say that!:) Any way the second option looks to much alike what i eat right now. You know, i normally don't have any problem stopping taking benzo, it's because of this i have had so much use for them i think thoughout the years. But right now it will be somewhat difficult. I have a physical disease that makes me inmobile and i don't feel particulary well. I have poor appetite both due to GI problems and benzo. But i will try my best ofcourse.

I have a question for you though. What kind of benzo may i eat while on Lyrica? Xanax, Klonopin ( i would like maybe both but especially Klonopin ).

You ask for my dosage. It's nothing high really. Divided over the latest weeks i have not taken more then about 2mg per day ( 1mg Klonopin and 1mg Xanax ). I will try to only eat Xanax and perhaps Klonopin 0,5mg 3-4 times a week, and then let's see what happens.

A friend said that i could try Haloperidol because Zyprexa just maked me tired when i tried it, but that's my last life line i think.

Lyrica is VERY fucking expensive...

I was supposed to go on it, but my insurance wouldn't cover it, and I had to try gabapentin. If I had just gotten the Rx of 60-50mg pills, it would have cost me over $160 bucks without insurance...so you've been forewarned lol.

In my country though ( somewhere in Europe ) the government pay for most of the price, and us patients have max. amount we pay each year. So you may eat medication for 10 000 or even 100 000 dollars each year and pay only a fraction of the real cost. For example if you need mediaction for 100 000 dollars you only pay far less then 1000 dollars.

I don't mean to be rude though( throw it in your face ), we have a greater social security in Europe that's all. I feel sorry for many americans in that way.

^I agree. Also, I don't find benzos even make most benzo experienced people sleepy at all. Sedated, perhaps, but not really tired in the sense I understand it.

Mulungu is a damn good sleep aid IME, as well as doxylamine if you want to delve into antihistamines...
