Hey i am wondering how fast someone is addicted to benzodiazepines?

What is the safe zone? Is it safe to take benzo's 3-4 days in a row and then stop for a week?

There's really no solid answer, however, doing 3 days on and 7 on should be alright, but it really depends on the person, length, and amount.

If you have to ask how to do enough drugs but not get addicted, you're probably going to end up addicted, as you already have the flaw in thinking. The attitude can easily get shifted to every other day, every day, and so forth..

i agree with jamtastic. everyone is different, but if i was you i'd follow the three basic rules someone on erowid posted in their report:

-never use benzo's 2 days in a row
-if you exceed normal dosage wait at least 2 days before taking more
-do not use benzo's every time you "feel bad"

also taking them with alcohol will heighten the risk of addiction. tread lightly!

dude i never had a trace of anxiety in my whole life. NEVER. i took xanax just fuckin round and had a nice 5 month wd. i'm talkin diarrhea, shakes, TOTAL DEPERSONILIZATION, paranoia, extreme social anxiety, hallucination - audio and visual, no sleep, weight loss, dick all fucked up and down ----------------- seriously dude, why fuck with the shit...? you could smoke weed, take opiates, snort fucking coke and not half to deal with the shit benzos bring. it is imo pure hell... not that youll listen to me but if only you knew how fuckin strong this stuff really is you'd leave it waaaaaaaaaaaaaay the fuck alone

Faster than you can say the word really, 3-4 times per week even for one week is a lot, chances are you wont make it waiting another week to drop again as well

Keep it at one time per week and don't use them long term else you will have to go through what k12 describes

potency of the benzo can be a factor, as strong benzos like temazepam, nimetazepam, and nitrazepam can cause onset physical dependence and withdrawl symptoms such as anxiety, dysphoria, and insomnia in as little as a week.

4 weeks of daily administration of a benzo can induce moderate physical dependence in (i think)26% of users.

less potent benzos(less binding affinity) such as oxazepam or quazepam may take longer to develop dependence with dependence being less severe than that of stronger benzos like alprazolam, temazepam, clonazepam, or diazepam.

half life, potency(binding affinity), pattern of usage(daily use, dose, etc.), and individual body chemistry are the factors that determine physical dependence.

however, psychological dependence can start from the first time(as with other recreational drugs). some people experience more euphoriant and relaxing effects than others, and therefore are prone to use more often. stimulant addicts often use large doses frequently to combat comedown effects, and may develop both psychological and physical dependence quickly.

those with personal or family histories of alcoholism or sedative dependence may be more at risk for addiction.

dependence can occur(and often does) from theraputic use, even at low doses. this problem is common with those perscribed benzos for insomnia or general anxiety disorder. due to tolerance that can rapidly build, some raise their doses or use them against medical instruction. its not unheard of for a once responsible, prescribed user to turn into an addict through the nature of benzo tolerance or to avoid "rebound" anxiety or insomnia.

*also: psychological dependence can occur quickly(faster than physical), and the habit of using benzos often develops to the point of lack of self control and constant build up of tolerance leading to physical dependence "creeping up" on the user. this could cause repeated higher doses to stop physical withdrawl, and addiction from that point tends to "snowball" up to severe addiction.

actually all of it came from me. there's no quoting medical journals, just posting from experience. i have been dependent on benzos for a long time, and i know a lot about benzo addiction.

*btw most of the info from medical records is actually true, benzos are very mean when abused.

Faster than you'd like to think actually.

Also I find even with extreme anxiety they are psychologically addictive. I have way less anxiety knowing I have my benzo scripts than if I didn't. It's like a security blanket... I know relief is one pill away. So psychological addiction and physical can happen fast.

Now, if you're taking them recreationally addiction sneaks up fast.

To answer your question yes it is safe.... but if you keep that up i t's a slippery slope.

Ill just add i have been on high doses of benzos for a very long time and have suffed WD in only 2 days after being off them and its hell at 2 days even.
Lately my experience has been i moved up to 8 mg of clonazepams and decided id taper myself ,thinking i only need the 6 mg so i used the rest so that i would only have 6 mg doses left to do a day and after only being on the 8 mg for about 3 months by taking the one pill 2 mg away i started Wd i would wake up in great pain in my knees and joints like my hips etc and wondering is this Wd or just a fluke because i injured myself a few years ago.
Turned out it was WD and i only dropped 1 pill.
I also take temazepams and nozinans and seroquel along with other pills not needed to be mentioned.
DO NOT get hooked on benzos.
I was never even told i could have WDs from them and now i am totaly stuck..
And now that i have used my 4th pills in the last few days i am stuck with only the 3 2 mg pills per day so i have 20 days of waking up in absolute pain in my knees etc only to have to roll over and take pain meds just to get back to sleep at about 3 times a night on everage...
there a teribble thing even though they saved my life...and im stuck on them forever...do not wind up like me .....

bah move on child you read a few medical terms and you get your pants in a twist lol, you can clearly see by the way it's worded that it didn't come from a medical journal. Just because he said a few terms you don't quite understand yet... go to another forum if you need things dumbed down or you feel the need to give educated people shit because you yourself are a dumb ass.

didnt mean offense to him. but you are saying u r edumacated? probably read the comic section in the newspaper and feel like doogie howser, MD. sure youre edumacated, sure. you keep tellin yourself that to keep yourself happy as a night watchman. ;)

just keep it to the weekends. i took benzos pretty much every weekend for a year and i had no problems with addiction. i used xanax and alchohol so i really didnt need to up my dose though. i stayed at 2mgs a day the whole time and i used them recreationally. i would say no more than twice a week and dont up your dose.

idk about the other poster who pointed you out as a dumbass but i'm a successful musician. i have more money, clearly more knowledge, and have more success than you could ever try to imagine.

perhaps if you get "edumacated" and stop being a prick you too can have a nice life someday. 8)

^ seriously, you mention a couple terms past 2nd grade level and some people just can't handle it.

maybe if for every post with useful info i make i should post a "for dummies" version as well.

Staysedated, how DARE you post an informative, well thought out response to the question! You should be ashamed.

Dick.

Like many others have said, benzos are a terrible addiction. I was taking 4 mgs of xanax with alcohol and blacking out multiple days of the week. In the end I had a near fatal overdose which convinced me to quit. Let me tell you quitting contained some of the most unbearable withdrawals I've ever felt. Worse then the obnoxious brain zaps I got from coming off zoloft. I was in a constant state of panic, shaking, sweating, unable to sleep, sick to my stomach, and overall the most miserable I've been in awhile. Be careful! Benzos are fun when used recreationally, the problem is they can be TOO fun.

No way to predict how quick you will become addicted. Everybody is different. Benzodiazepine sleep-aids can become habit forming after only a month or two of daily use. Then again, some people can take Clonazepam daily for 4 months and just stop with no withdrawals or cravings.

There is also no certain way to take benzodiazepines to prevent addiction. Every other day or once a month...its all dependent upon the individual.
