So, I took 600 mg of Vivarin (caffeine), in divided doses throughout the late afternoon and evening (5, 5:45 and 9 pm), while I'm trying to cram for Calculus, I'm having typical caffeine jitters: nervousness, elevated heart rate, mental and bodily tension, clenching my fingers and jaw, restlessness and anxious thoughts. I'm out of kava kava and l-theanine :( , and I could drink booze to relax, but I'm a bit dehydrated, so that would worsen it, but if I take dipenhydramine, which is supposedly an anxiolytic at low doses, would it synergize with the stimulant effects of caffeine and relieve the jitters while retaining the focus, or would they simply cancel each other out and return me at baseline?

I'm not sure if anybody has tried this combination, or just offer me theoretical advice, but I'm dosing 25 mg of Benadryl every half-hour to get a feel for it, so either way I'd like to know what to expect.

Unlike benadryl+modafinil, this won't directly antagonize the stimulant effect.

You can give it a shot, but expect to not be quite a sharp on your homework. Actually expect it make you sharper, the placebo effect is a powerful thing. =D

It really wont relax you. I used to take dph with copious amounts of strong coffee; it gave me a buzz but it really didnt sedate or relax me. The herbal sleep aid pills would be better for this-they have valerian (among others) and they're actually quite effective.

dph and caffeine made me tired physically but my brain was still racing and I was unable to sleep for hours.

Dph raises your heart rate too and causes restless legs. Also what bromide said. Sounds like it would make things worse.
