Hello, today is day one for me of trying to be clean again. I used Heroin, bag or two a day, from May through August last year. I quit about two weeks then went on suboxone for a couple of months. In December after a failed attempt to quit the subs, my heroin habit came back, 3-5 bags a day for a month or so, snorting. I took subs in january theb went back to H. Now ive been taking suboxone for 5 and a half weeks, started with 2-4 mgs a day, the last week I took 1/2 mg to 1 mg a day. Im just wondering if anyone has any experience with a habit like this of this length and variance and could give me an educated guess as to how long I need to go to start feeling better. I known you cant give real numbers, but just an estimate.
Will the 5 weeks ive been on subs have me addicted to the subs now, prolonging the withdrawals a bunch? Or did I get off in time?

I know there is no set number. But if someone would give me an estimate of if im going to be going through normal opiate withdrawal or prolonged sub withdrawal. I have no energy or will to get out of bed. Im failing my classes. And now ive dropped the only thing that gets me going. How long till my energy and some motivation returns? How about the anxiety and depression?

I just need to know so I can see the light at the end

Take immodium for the diarrhea, clonidine for the restless legs, a benzo to help with sleep and anxiety, drink lots of water and gatorade, eat if you can, my personal experience when I kicked subs took about 5-7 days for the initial "sick" phase to pass, I'm 15 months clean now and trust me you can do it. It isn't about being tough or strong it's about wanting it the people who wanna stay clean and kick do, just preserver, you can do it, believe me I'm living proof and if I can you can man just stick in there

Im one of the lucky few who dont get flu like symptoms. Mild runs and bad feeling, but mostly lethargic depression and anxiety

Not really helpful to this discussion, or on topic. The reason you haven't gotten all the negative symptoms, and full on acute withdrawal is because you haven't taken enough for long enough. Don't reply though, it doesn't matter in this thread unless you have advice for withdrawal.

I'll second everything lman said, but not too much benzo, but a immodium taper can help lightyears with not feeling 90% of w/d symptoms.

I was just adding to my original post in response to what someone who replied said... Like I said in the OP Ive been high nearly every day for ten months, is that not enough for the severe flu like withdrawal symptoms? Given I feel awful but I'm not throwing up.

Thanks for the recommendations guy, but like I said I'm looking for some kind of time frame that someone could give me. The feeling that itll last forever is what cayses me to relapse

^ I don't think he realized you're the OP! I can't give you a time frame either because everyone's different. Some people can jump off at 1 mg. You might try every other day instead of daily.

Well I think that if you were taking more like 16mg of suboxone a day, or 10 bags of heroin a day then you would be experiencing flu-like symptoms from your withdrawal. So the duration was there but not the dosage. :)

subs are the hardest to get off of...watch how long youre on them,it should only be a couple weeks...NO MATTER WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE SOME DISCOMFORT...don't try to make it completely pain free

I'm actually kinda shocked this guy was able to go so long not taking his DOC daily. That's kinda amazing...

A golden platinum eagle award for chipping.
What do you mean?

Day three muscles in my legs feel tight and weird and just feel like I want to lay in bed but I gotta get up for work

This might sound bad but pick up another "CRUTCH." Often times rehab places help with the problem at hand but direct you to a new one. For instance everyone i know that has come out of drug rehab has returned home clean from that drug but came home smoking cigarettes. Im not here to lecture you on the do's and the don'ts but smoking is a lot better than heroin or any other drugs. If you already smoke then search for a natural high. IE, hobbies, music, gaming, sports, etc...Good Luck.

Just go cold turkey for 2 days, the worst will then be over! then take some gaba day 3/4 just at night to sleep. Works wonders for me. By day 5 i was right as rain

Gabapentin. It's a very strange drug that a lot of people use to help with opiate withdrawals. I took it for fun once, before my opiate addiction was even really a habit, and like I said, it's really strange. I couldn't really describe it, but there's a lot of good info on it on here and elsewhere on the Web. People sing its praises for kicking though.

What is gaba?

GABA is a nuerotransmitting chemical in our mind, released naturally and also with the help of external substances. Some drugs will give an effect that is a combination of chemicals being released to the nuerotransmitters. Dopamine is the euphoria, Epinephrine is energy like adrenaline, GABA is like relaxation. But there is no euphoira associated with GABA. In order to have euphoria the nuerotransmitters must be active, GABA is a chemical that literally slows down the activity. It is more like a tired feeling.

Sub won't give heavy WD's, especially anything under 8mg a day is not going to. I think sober people lay in bed in the morning and don't want to go to work also lol. I am just saying that most of us are naturally imbalanced, it is not like we are going to be superpoeple and just manage to escape anxiety and depression as if we got some free ticket.
