My med list

Is it irresponsible to prescribe twice the amount of recommended CNS active medications? Are my doctor's not checking in with each other?

I was having a really hard time staying awake until they added a stimulant into the mix, but I'm afraid it's a bit of a speedball.

To note tho, my mental health has drastically improved
This one is with some other OTCs I take:
Wow some interesting additive effects
Check out how cimetidine lowers hepatoxic effects of acetaminophen and increases serum concentrations of hydroxyzine, abilify and others. Another interaction I found interesting was the anticholinergic combination of hydroxyzine and abilify (abilify is a nasty drug huh?). Also the increased adrenergic response to pseudoephedrine and methylphenidate, is that a good thing?

Lucky you.

I was on...
Buprenorphine
Clonazepam
Clonidine
Propranolol
Prazosin
Topomax
Gabapetin
Mirtzapine
Flexeril
Venlafaxine

All from the same doc.

Said I was having trouble staying awake & my depression worsened. Asked for a stimulant, was denied but thrown an antipsychotic! :D

Some times I wonder if they were trying to kill me.

I love our psychiatric health care! So wonderful! /s

Can't ask for something like that, just say you have lots of anxiety and describe ADHD symptoms instead (which can be misconstrued as anxiety by a non-professional) check it out with the otc stuff

Oh I've tried. lol
Been with my doctor for a long time.
I've been through everything else, SSRI's, antipsychotics, etc...

I genuinely believe a stimulant would help me.
But I think because of the 'addiction' on my record, they refuse to prescribe any of the traditional ones.

Actually I believe legal pure diacetylmorphine would help me, but I figured I'd try for a stimulant first. lol

I wish that was still around. I have opioid dependence and some benzo use and somehow they found out about cocaine use on my record (doesn't show up in the system for me tho??). They were still ok with it, started me off very low. If you need stimulants like I do, they barely affect you. Ritalin inhibits reuptake of dopamine (imagine blocking the dopamine from being transported away) causing a normal amount of dopamine in my receptors since at baseline the dopamine is very low. This is the same reason I act very normal on cocaine

I feel "normal" on heroin & opioids. But they also release dopamine.

I do get a noticeable mood lift from low dose stimulants. I can still eat & sleep on adderall.

Too high of a dose tho or illicit stimulants & I become "too focused", usually on sex. lol

Unfortunately I'll never receive the same level of care or understanding now that I have opioid maintenance in my history.

Which means if I need it, I'll have to go to the streets for it. Lovely cycle.

Thanks Pro-Drug War USA!

There should be no shame in getting help for opioid addiction. What a fucked up thing. Not even the same class of substances!

You should know not all doctors think like this. Generally, you have to switch psychiatrists yearly regardless

I've had the same mental health care provider for almost 5 years now. They also do my opioid maintenance.
They're kinda open minded & understanding. If I switched tho, I could lose a lot of what I'm already on.

And unfortunately I've admitted to using drugs of all kinds, so that's somewhere in my records too i'm sure.
But you're right, not all doctors are judgemental. Took me a couple years tho to get my doctor to trust me with a benzo script (which I don't even like benzos, but they're life savers for panic attacks).

I actually wanted to try concerta to counter act the tiredness and lack of motivation I get from my depression & all the CNS depressants I take for anxiety.
I've tried it before in the past & it seemed mellow enough (and long acting enough) to keep me awake & motivated, without tweaking me out too much like say, meth would.

Closest I got was getting prescribed modafinil, only to have my insurance say they wouldn't cover it without a sleep disorder diagnosis.

Can't win, but I'm gonna keep fighting!
Glad to hear you've improved OP!
Cheers!
