I don't get it?

And no, I don't live in Oakland, but I'm close enough to go to 70+ A's games a year.

was just thinking about how in some major cities that I have lived in with not a lot of collegiate affiliation... kind of pass over the whole college sports deal. but it made more sense when I was thinking it rather than typing it, so nevermind.

and just how awesome would this year's BCS playoffs be?!

BCS Playoffs Bracket

No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide vs. No. 8 Ohio State Buckeyes

No. 2 Texas Longhorns vs. No. 7 Oregon Ducks

No. 3 Cincinnati Bearcats vs. No. 6 Boise State Broncos

No. 4 TCU Horned Frogs vs. No. 5 Florida Gators

just think about Cinci VS Boise State! the score would probably be in the 50s.

despite how good Alabama is, I think Ohio State could possibly pull off an upset. because their defense is always solid (against pro-style formations especially, because that's most of what you see in the Big Ten); and if Terelle Pryor somehow had the game of his life.

Texas VS Oregon would be pretty boss to watch as well. I think Oregon's D is underrated and Texas's D overrated.

both TCU and BSU would be represented, so all you small schoolers could STFU.

thoughts? how could anyone dismiss such entertainment is beyond me!

Care to run a playoffs thread in here with those brackets? I can set it up if you like :) And yes, I think that'd be a great playoff system right there - quality games each round.

If you only made an 8 team playoff, the college season would still have that every game is a playoff feel.

And what's with the ACC hate? It's only the second or third best conference in the country, why would the champion of that conference not make it to a playoff in this scenario? The ACC might even be second best. I think that a handful of ACC teams could challenge Texas better than any of the current Big 12 teams did. It is clearly ahead of both the Big East and Big Ten. The SEC just happens to be leagues ahead of everybody right now, even though they had a really weak year this year.

one half of your championship match was unranked, and both coughed up embarrassing losses to mediocre SEC teams the week before. Worse-- tech runs a retro gimmick offense that is easy to train for once you know its coming.

SEC
PAC 10
Big 12
Big 10
Big Easy
ACC

in that order.

There is no doubt that the SEC is leagues ahead of everyone else right now, but watch the bowl games this year. You'll see. The ACC is catching up.

BC vs USC -- looks like a loss
NC vs Pitt -- looks like a loss
clemson vs UK --- could go either way
miami vs UW -- miami wins
VT vs tenn -- looks like a loss
wv vs fsu -- looks like a loss
gt vs iowa -- gt wins, probably...

doesn't look that great. tell me where I'm wrong.

The big east is extremely overrated. I would not be the least surprised if a crappy FSU team beats the crap out of WVU, and NC should handle Pitt which would surprise a lot of people but shouldn't. Clemso will beat UK. GT will beat Iowa.

BC and USC is obviously a mismatch, as is FSU and WVU on paper but whenever it comes to highly ranked big east teams I see an upset. VT and Tenn could go either way.

I only see one guaranteed loss on there.

I actually thought that's what you were getting at, but I wasn't sure. That usually is true for big cities without a major college, but plenty of folks here in Oakland love the Cal Bears since Berekley is right next door. Unless they're a Stanford fan, in which case I say fuck 'em!

I disagree that the Big East is overrated (maybe Cincinatti...). WVU played a heck of a game against Auburn that I bring up because both teams' offenses executed properly in this game, and the result was a mid-tier Big East team hanging with a mid-tier SEC team, which really impressed me.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the Big East beat the ACC in both the FSU-WVU game and the North Carolina-Pitt game.

VT-Tenn is a match up I'm really looking forward to...

not hype. the Big 10 wants to add.

Notre Dame has constantly said no. they relish in the fact that their Independent Conference Status means that when they win a bowl game they do not have to split the revenue with the rest of the conference teams.

however, I think that Missouri and Pitt (and Rutgers, who are seriously trying to improve their NCAA football image) want to join the Big Ten. in a couple years, there will be an added team in the Big Ten.

referring to the Pac-10; how sweet would it be if they added to great Mountain West teams in BYU and Utah?!

PAC 10 should take boisie before either utah team.

Big ten shoudl sit and wait for ND to fall on harder times, and compensate in the interim by moving their conference schedule around so they dont finish so late.

Anyone who votes for the BCS is a godless communist homosexual who hates America and freedom and drowns puppies for fun. If playoffs are good enough for every other sport on the planet (including college football at the lower levels) then they are good enough for the top tier of college football. A 16 or 32 team playoff would be the best few weeks in sports.

haha, you're such a dick.

do you really think GT is going to beat Iowa? I'm never really impressed with GT and I think Iowa at least has an okay offense and a defense that can work over that triple option.

Clemson did beat UK, if anybody really cares about that one.

wow-- well well miami. I guess I was taken in by the pretty colors and hype. Wisc dominated, but aside from completely owning the clock, they didn't make much of a case.

Miami went three and out on three passes like 3 times during the game. You can't win games playing with half a playbook.

good for Wisconsin winning the game. you have to love it when middle of the pack Big 10 teams rough up a team that is heavily hyped (I am victim of falling for Miami's hype, yes).
