Can someone fill me in on what functional groups the various tests react on, (when they give positive tests of MDX, DXM and meth) and hence what other functional groups they might cross react on..

Specifically-
Marquis reagent
Mecke reagent
Mandelin

I know,
Simons = secondary amine
Robadope = primary amine
...But can they cross react with any other function groups?

euhm it's not really known what's in the tests so i dont know what will react with what.
but the functional groups in some of the substances you mentioned are logic; like the ring, an oxygen atom bounded by 2 carbons, ester groups, enol groups etc i think you had chemistry.
and i think they definetely crossreact if another compound is in the mix; that's why they dont garantuee you that your test will be accurate for 100%.

so the practical results (what you will see) of some of the tests will be the colors mentioned on the ez-test.com site. but could be a mixture of some of the colors.

if you want to read about this: feigl - spot tests in organic analysis . the bible for testing substances
