Bad rolls/trips. What to do.

Ok, got a question for someone.
Everytime i drop, after about 30 minutes, i start to get really paranoide. Ill go for a walk or something, and i have to really say to myself , fuck its just the drugs its just the drugs.
Then it hits me , and i forget everything.
How come this happens?

Anticipation?
It happens to most of us, some cop it worse than others. I've personally battled a couple of quite bad anxiety attacks, you just need to learn how to cope with it by keeping your mind occupied and distracted.

All I can say is, HOLY SHIT, an early post from me that made sense and was constructive.
Anyway, apart from that.
Valium's all good for bringing a bad trip (acidwise) to a speedy end, but I'm not so sure about MDMA.
In my own humble opinion, the best thing to do is probably get the person out of the venue to somewhere where they can just relax.

Ok heres the thing the last couple of times ive dumped ive had some trippy halluciations, not scary or freaky they were actually pretty cool.I never really had them till recently and theyve always been..... mmmmmm how would you say happy hallucinations.I was wondering if you guys get them everytime you roll or just occasionally. :)

Valium (diazepam) can reduce the anxiety and agitation associated with stimulants and psychedelics. It is recommended for use for people who seek medical attention as a result of the above. However, benzodiazepines can occasionally cause a paradoxical reaction, being increased agitation which would be a bad thing. So, I wouldn't recommend giving Valium or other benzo's to people who have never had them before in this situation.
Also, someone who is highly agitated can often soak up truckloads of Valium. It is standard in some hospitals to give a minimum of 40mg oral or IV, up to 100mg over a short period to sedate highly agitated psychiatric patients(no that isn't a misprint). This is for people under medical supervision, so do not try this at home kids! My point being, that if someone is highly agitated, and all the measures described in the other posts have failed, you might have no choice but to seek medical attention.

One thing I do, which is DEFINATELY a personal thing, as it freaks some people out, is to be really sure what time I took the drug. I've never had a trip last longer than about 8-10 hours (like, mindfuck, dont know where/who I am fucked), so if I know about what time I can expect to be back on the planet, I can usually just start doing shit to waste the time till that point. EG: 3 hours in, it's all getting too much, I just look at my watch and think "only 5 hours to go" or something, then go and find a way to waste that 5 hours. This usually lasts about 5 minutes, and by that time I've forgotten my paranoia :)
I'm also really lucky in that when I first started doing acid, I was certain that it was a medically proved fact that Vit C brought you down. As a result, Vit C does now bring me down, and a few Vit C pills, or a few big glasses of OJ can calm me down quite a lot. Like BT said, there is a lot to be said for the placebo effect.

Ask dim_mak about how good OJ is to solve a wig-out. Yes the placebo effect is good! This should amost become a FAQ (with some editing) about ways to help out. (remember of course that if the person wigging out has read the FAQ then they will consider that you are also a part of the government agency out to get them and that you could be the mastermind ;) )

^ Go for it! That's the kind of initiative that really helps!
If you want suggestions or help turning this lot into a FAQ, let us know in this thread - otherwise take all the info there, with whatever you can get from elsewhere and write it up... email or post here to have it added to the list.

I had an ex a few years ago leave me in a club to flip out on a bad trip alone. his reason:
"i thought you'd handle it better alone"
Ummm... NO I got worse. why? because he kept avoiding me. So i had something else to freak out about as well.. why does he keep on disappearing on me type thing. Not surprisingly we broke up not long after that.
Personally I think u should never ever leave someone experiencing a bad trip alone. No matter how much u think they need to be alone. Better to try and talk them out of it then leave them freaking out by themselves. Leaving them alone could end up doing more harm than good..
I think people need to be aware ecstasy is a hallicigen as well. I no someone who spent a month in a mental hospital from their first pill. she took the same pills from the same batch as her friends and lost it.
Next time your out observe groups of friends. theres nearly always one person in every group that cant handle it.

My 2cents,
I often find it helps to tell friends who are wigging out funny stories about the times I've been absolutely and irresponsibly past messed up, hopefully making them laugh and realise that their not really as messed up as they think they are. Take care not to freak them out though, this tactic can go horribly wrong!

I tend to give them a line of speed, especially if they flip out on Ketamine. Only a tiny one though. Is this a really bad thing to do? I always tell people to have a little line of speed if they're freaking on pills or ketamine, my reasoning has always been that if I'm peaking and have speed it pulls me out of the peak pretty much instantly.
I've done this for people a few times and its always worked...Was it just because of a placebo effect?
Tell me I haven't been doing something really stupid and or dangerous?....
(not again :) )

I think one of the worst things i've seen by far would have to be at Utopia (July 2002) when i was in the bathroom. I saw this chick surrounded by a group of girls...
I watched and observed for a while and you could see this chick, which she looked to be most definetly 15-16 yrs was totaly smacked out, eyes high towards the sky, dehydrating. I told them to sit her down, put her head between her legs/on someones lap, get her some water and keep her calm.
I think i was freaked out purely because she was so young, and to see her smacked out was really disappointing. Best thing to do i say would be keep them calm, slow they're breathing down... make sure they're safe and keep and observe them.

In regards to giving someone a line of speed, I would take great caution going down that path. The placebo effect may work, but one thing to remember is that amphetamines will increase heart rate and body heat which may not help the person. I know personally speed can cause me to become anxious and edgy, that on top of a bad trip would definately not be the best thing for me.
(Personal opinion of course.)

speed has gotton me out of a few spots with ghb well its the best explanation for how we drank on it that i can come up with. and one or two very big time smack outs on ecstasy.
But i agree with munchee. It could make a situation worse. Ive just been lucky.

Animals are very important. They are non-judgmental and I truly believe my golden retriever saved my mind one night of far too many shrooms. First time I took them and then when everything started to get a bit mental I was left in my house in the bush with two people who hadn’t done them and were against drugs. The other “friends” who took them with me had headed into to Daylesford for a spa and some visuals.
After being too scared to come inside the house, throwing up, losing my vision and then my hearing and then being too scared to stay outside the house I truly thought I was going to die. I was poisoned and my system was shutting down. Then my dog came over and I held him for almost two hours – my grip on reality.
I finally made it on to the couch and then the hallucinations kicked in. But by this stage I thought I would be fine – as hallucinations is what I had been told shrooms brought on. My non-drug taking friends were of no use, tut-tutting drug taking and stuff like that.
But the warmth of the dog and the fact that it was real was very very important. Like receiving a big hug when in need from friends.
My two cents.
Scrumpytwo :)

I think that if someone is in a difficult drug situation then the likely solution is most probably not 'more drugs'. I suggest that the placebo effect is more prevalent in the success of your speed remedy than the effect of the amphetamine, in which case I recommend giving the person a line of glucose powder or epsom salts and telling them it's meth to clean them up. That way you give them both the satisfaction of thinking they have their bad trip by the balls and will be better in no time (successful placebo) and also you're not contributing to any possible health risks by adding more drugs to their overloaded system.
