yep, japanese eggplant. i haven't picked any yet. but between the 2 plants, we've probably got 10 or so fruiting. 2 or 3 of them are ready. i might grill one up tonight.

we made breakfast this morning with FARM FRESH INGREDIENTS

eggs from our chickens, poached, on biscuits, with tomato, onion, pepper, turkish eggplant hash. also white crumbly cheese from the carneceria that we didn't grow. but those other things, yes!

kenickie, that looks awesome!

our artichokes kicked ass this year. Potatoes are coming in, as well as broccoli, onions, beets, garlic, and carrots. Peas are done. Beans are just about ready. A few weeks before i can have a blt though.

i got more eggplant than i know what to do with. maters are finally looking good and our bell peppers and hot peppers are going off. zuchinni was a huge failure. but that's ok. this is my first year gardening, so i'm just kind seeing what works.

grilled some eggplant last night.

looks great! today we made a 'tomato tart' which was like amazingly obsessively good. filo pastry, dijon mustard, grated swiss cheese, then slices of tomato and basil on top baked for 25 minutes. omgzzzz

CS looks good man... Kudos for the charcoal grill.

Pander, I have thought about trying mortgage lifters... Are they as good as read elsewhere on the net?

alright i`ll try them... I`m trying 6 new ones this year, i`ll put mortgage lifters on for next year...
CS `s pic inspired me to buy a new smoker grill yesterday... Can`t wait to try it out...

nice...what'd you get?

i can't wait for fall, i will be smoking massive amounts of meat.
one of those brinkmans that looks like r2d2. The charcoal kind. I had one years ago as well as an electric. I didn`t care for the electric one though. I like playing with fire. My gf just found a recipe for smoking almonds... Do want.

What do you smoke for meat?

Also i`m drowning in snap beans. :)
