Back pains and percocet prescription...

Hello...Been having some back problems...The problem originated in my lower back around the spinal area many months ago, I cannot recall what or how I injured it...Anyhow, this past month my pains have gotten so bad that normal jobs have been almost impossible and the pains are interefering greatly with my work performance (even though I don't do any lifting, just some bending over) I decided to go the emergency room and a back specialist spoke with me and mentioned he thought it was either a herniated disk, torn ligaments, or spasms in my spinal area that are causing my muscles to contract...Since the pain was chronic (several months) He prescribed percocet for me right off the bat...20 of them, and reffered me to another doctor up the street...He told me I may need therapy and if the problem persists possibly surgery...At any rate, he told me to bring my bottle of medicine with me when I go to see the doc...He said from there on the new doctor will be giving me my prescriptions...My question is...Does it make sense that he would continue the percocet with me since Ive been on it the last 5 days or will he try some weaker drug or what? And honestly, even with taking 4 of the percocet 5's didn't alleviate my pain completely...Just made me much more comfortable and easier to manage it...Does anyone have back injury experience to let me know what steps they will take next also??? Thankyou for reading...

He will most likely ask you how the percs have been working for you. I would tell him there alright but I still have some pain. You don't want to say the suck because he'll think you'r lying. You don't want to say there great because he might try to give you somethin weaker.
Good Luck...

Tell the doctor exactly what you just told us.
The truth is that even taking 4 of them didn't completely get rid of the pain. Tell him you're actually kind of scared to take more as well, though.
And do as much as you can to describe the pain and what you're going through and how it's interfering with your work.
In this case, I think complete honesty is your best bet.
You may also want to be very inquisitive in asking the doctor what he thinks is wrong, if there is anything you can do to get rid of the problem entirely, how long he thinks it will persist, etc., etc.
Also, if the problem is something to do with a back injury and not a hernia, he's probably going to recommend some sort of physical therapy treatment. You're definantly going to have to participate or you'll probably end up getting cut off from the meds if the doctor doesn't think you're trying to correct the problem and just relying on meds.

Thanks guys, I actually went back to the hospital today for a re-evaluation. Was prescribed some percocet 7.5/325.
Hopefully when I see the orthopedist they will keep me on it for some time, I do not see why not anyhow. By the way, Soviet Contin do you have an instant messenger by any chance? Or if not email me at [email protected] thanks bro.
