I have read before that B. caapi is psychedelic in and of itself, this is very true. I believe I overdosed on the maoi or something because all of the things I am describing below are from b. caapi alone.

I brewed a half-pound of shreded b. caapi vine in a large pot. The first extraction was done over four hours at a low boil with about three or four grams of Vitamin C added to the water (tablets did not dissolve very well) The second extraction I let the vine sit in unheated water all day and then began brewing again the next night giving the water an additional 4 hours of boiling and an additional three grams of vitamin C, I filtered reduced and cooled. I bought a bottle of orajel and poured the gel into my mouth drank some water and swished it around until my entire mouth was numb and tingling, then took a straw and began to drink off the surface of the b. caapi being careful as not to disturb the sediment on the bottom of the container, I took three or four SMALL sips maybe (less than one mouthful, and about 1/6 of the container) then things started to get very crazy.

My vision became sharper and brighter as if I had just eaten a couple of mushrooms. The colors around me became greatly enhanced I was surprised at how psychedelic just the maoi was. I the went to lay in bed and waves of euphoria washed over my body from head to toe. i thought "woah nobody mentioned this" the waves kept getting stronger and stronger until the euphoria was so strong it was starting to hurt. Suddenly the euphoria was nothing but waves of nausea and I felt horribly drugged I kept saying "why did I do this to myself" I went to the bathroom and violently threw up the contents of my almost empty stomach; a dozen or so pasta shells and some Pepto-Bismol that did nothing to quell the nausea. I lay on the ground in the bathroom to weak to walk staring at the ceiling and the cabinets looming above me everything looked like a dream, then I closed my eyes to find visuals on par with a third plateau DXM trip, screaming jack-o-lanterns bursting with flames and horned devil faces shooting toward me getting bigger and bigger.I felt like wounded dolphin psychically crying out for assistance. I knew I needed to drink the DMT to "fully" trip but I was too weak and nauseous to make it to the kitchen, I could not stand, thinking was painful. The caapi had made me so nauseous that the idea of drinking anything else bitter made me dry heave. The feeling gradually subsided in about four hours and I was somewhat back to normal with an awful stomachache that lasted until the next day.
What happened? I know b. caapi is supposed to be psychedelic, but not THAT psychedelic, did I overdose? I can still taste it in my mouth, It truely is the vine of the dead.

Sounds like a normal B. Caapi (alone) trip, definately not an overdose. It says this in Thikal. Im gonna change the title to conform with guidelines, do this your self next time please. I would consider an overdose as some sort of Seratonin Syndrome, or possibly a Hypertensive crisis.

Thanks for the report, we've been getting some good reports in today! :)

I bet if nothing else, he learned to do a bit more research before consuming an exotic jungle maoi:\

No offense hamhurricane:)

thanks for sharing! it's very rare to see reports of using caapi alone.

unless you drank most of the caapi tea i doubt you 'over dosed'. you'd probably have to drink over 150-200 grams to get into that territory, and even then i doubt that would be considered an over dose. some people use 100+ grams regularly in their ayahuasca, while others claim that 50 grams of caapi alone is a pretty heavy experience for them.
i've read that there are many shamans that do not add any dmt admixture to their caapi brews.
sounds like you purged pretty good, do you feel any better in the days following the experience?

I posted several links in a recent b caapi thread in the psychedelics forum. Check it out if you have time.

I concur. Thanks for the informative report!

B. caapi is known for causing a psychedelic/cleansing/instructional experience on its own. Part of the reason is, I'm sure, because its higher dose allows for more MAOI activity but without the toxic effects of rue. But also, many people experienced with it say that its effects are more than just the effects of an MAOI. I would not consider it an overdose but just a strong experience. If I were you I would try it again with a similar or a little lower dose, and try to go with it more now that you know what to expect. Many people consider the purging it causes to be cleansing. The plant is known for having a very "teacher-like" spirit.
