Ayahuasca (mimosa analogue) - First time - Sicky but right

Well after several years of psychedelic experimentation I finally tried what I found to be the best of the bunch.

Previous (psychedelic) experience: several 2C- types, mainly 2C-B, TMA-2 and 6, LSD, mescaline (as peruvian torch), mushrooms, salvia.

Dose : 10g mimosa & 4g syrian rue

I'd been saving myself up for ayahuasca for 6 months or more. I never seemed to have a clear run so kept putting it off until I finally finished uni for the year. My exams didn't go too well (though this assumption was subsequently proved wrong!). I'd tried peruvian torch cactus a few days earlier and felt up to the challenge that I thought I'd face.

We followed a MAOI friendly diet for a day and a half before the experience. Not being allowed cheese, marmite, beer and red wine was a minor inconvenience though at the time seemed a bit of an extreme step! On the day I ate a small breakfast and no lunch.

The brew was prepared separately, with 20g powdered mimosa hostilis being extracted 4 times into water acidified with a little vinegar. 8g of syrian rue powder was extracted likewise. Both solutions were reduced down and refrigerated overnight, the sediments being removed by filtration.

The rue extract was drank first. It was bitter and foul tasting but some milk helped it down. After 30mins a noticeable change in perception occured together with the beginnings of nausea. The mimosa extract was then drunk. This was very tannic and also pretty hard to drink.

The mimosa extract came on very fast. Within about 10 minutes we started to notice mushroom type visuals. These intensified quickly and the whole room started to become alive. A niggling nausea started to develop. The feeling was different to all other psychedelics I've done. After about an hour we were at the peak. The nausea was very intense - I wished I'd vomited earlier but I had an incredibly clear mind space and was working through problems I had as if I was holding them in my hands. I found juggling helped to calm my mind slightly and was also pretty good fun. I couldn't stop smiling despite the profound feeling I had.

After about 2 1/2 hrs the visuals and mind trip element started to recede. However we were both left with a buoyant mood which persisted for several days afterwards. The experience had allowed me to work through what I found to be petty problems and I approached life as I should've been doing for ages.

This is quite a short report and doesn't really do the stuff justice. It was quite mild but was was definitely different. The nausea was annoying and next time I may force myself to throw up if a similar thing happens. I'm also going to try a higher dose of mimosa - maybe using 12g or possibly 15..

Sounds fantastic, and the thought of a person juggling while tripping on ayahuasca is really funny. It definitely made me smile. :)

I have yet to try ayahuasca, though I've got a supply of mimosa root and ground syrian rue as well as the more traditional banisteriopsis caapi and psychotria viridis resting comfortably in a dark closet. Just haven't had the time to use them yet, and somehow the time hasn't felt *right*. I'm thinking maybe during the winter when there's snow on the ground (or better yet when it's snowing out), but we shall see I guess. I'm also a teeny bit leery of the nausea (I absolutely HATE throwing up), but no pain no gain, right?

Anyways, thanks for the report!

Yeah I hate throwing up too. I've always been a "hold it down and ride it out" kind of person. I've never thrown up off any psychedelic - the only drug thats ever caused problems is (surprise) alcohol. I think with this it would be beneficial to throw up as the nausea detracted from the experience somewhat.

you should have done what the nausea was telling you to do.

don't fight the purge, welcome it. it's full of symbolism, as the experience is somewhat a way of removing the bad. not only from your body, but from your self as well.

yes, puking your guts up sucks, but in the case of the aya purge, it's quite worth it.

dont puke it up too fast. you have to give the alkaloids some time to absorb. i tripped aya wit a buddy of mine and he hurled it up in like 6 or 7 minutes, not nearly long enough for full alkaloid absorption.

Yep, from what I understand La Purga (the purge) is an essential part of the whole shamanistic ritual.

The nausea maintained itself at a borderline throw up/don't throw up state. Though I felt sick I didn't hold it down and what I was suggesting was actually a two fingers down the throat jobby to get rid of the nausea, not holding off a purge.

I'll have to see what happens at the higher dose.

This is pretty much what I'm expecting (hoping?) for with my experiences with ayahuasca. Top work
