avoiding the 'faded' feeling after smoking

Smoke more, more!

or start with the smallest amount to use during the day, and slowly smoke a little more everytime you smoke again.

Or wait till later in the day to smoke.

Personally i start the day off with just one snap. Then next ill roast a whole bowl around lunch time. Around four or five o clock ill do another bowl, or maybe a bowl and a snap. After that ill wait till the sun goes down and ill smoke up the rest of my weed and pass out. Usually the 'burnout' comes right as im getting ready for bed, and i sleep like a baby.

Of course i dont follow that schedule strictly, its usually something like that...

is it true that with better weed there is no faded feeling and you drift back to a normal relaxed state, not lethargic, agitated state?

THC doesn't last as long as some of the other cannabinoids in the plant, and (correct me if I'm wrong) is the only one that works as a stimulant. Once it wears off, you're left with the feeling you get from the other cannabinoids. You can either smoke better weed, use synthetic cannabinoids such as JWH-018 and WIN 55-212,2 that have much higher affinities for the CB1 than CB2 receptors, or use a vaporizer. By vaping at the right temperature, you'll mostly just get THC.

This also happens more with indica strains because the ratio of THC to other cannabinoids is lower.

^^ Theres another cannabinoid in Cannabis called THCV which gives a more energetic/speedy high. I think you'll find most Sativa strains have a good level of this.

To avoid feeling faded. Dont smoke in the morning right when you wake up, if your going to smoke bongs smoke 1 or 2 just to get a bit of energy running through you(wheather your smoking sativa or indica I find a low dose of each will give you a bit of energy.

Eat meals inbetween smokes, and try to allow 3-4 hours between smoking to allow yourself to feel completely "sober". This works for me.
