Harm Reduction Avicel-PH-105 + Oxycodone powder

So an acquaintance of mine can acquire some compounded oxycodone pills. They come in little capsules that can be pried open and the powder dumped out. I'm getting bored of oral oxy and would like to try and snort some.

I asked what the ingredients were, and according to the source the only 2 are oxycodone and Avicel-PH-105 a.k.a. [Microcrystaline Cellulose]. Now I'm wondering, is this the same Microcrystaline cellulose that is found in Opana ER, the one that can cause silicosis?

Are they exactly the same, or does the one in opana contain some form of silicone as well responsible for the silicosis disease if inhaled too much? Ultimately I need to know if the powder in these oxy capsules is going to cause long term harm to my lungs if I snort it and inhale some of that substance.

Microcryatalline cellulose is not the same as "silicified microcrystalline cellulose" (used in Opana). Even then, you have big wet flaps of tissue known as sinuses that filter out most (if not all) of the fine particulates before they reach your lung. (Nobody I know snorts pills through their mouth.) On top of that you would have to snort huge amounts before irritation set in.

You could always just wash the oxycodone out with water (or, y'know, eat it) if you are ultra-paranoid. Cellulose will be poorly soluble.

Is there any way to separate the 2 without using water. A dry extraction?

On a separate issue, even though it doesn't feel like it, you are inhaling a considerable amount of powder when snorting. I had been using a bending straw to blow the powder into my nose for a while (homemade Direct Haler tm), then I switched back to snorting; this is when I undoubtedly feel the powder going into my lungs.

It is impossible to seperate the two with a dry extraction unless you know the particle sizes of the cellulose and the OC, and the size difference is big enough to do a sieve.

MCC isn't particularly bad to get into your lungs. It can't cause silicosis (since it has no silicon in it ;-) )

Realistically, if you're snorting so many pills that you should be worried about the binders getting into your lungs, it might be a good time to slow down on the oxy...

Oxy also has a really high oral BA - you don't gain much, if anything, by snorting it other than marginally faster onset, assuming the pills are dosed fairly highly (if you've gotta snort a bunch of pills to get the amount of oxy you want, you're probably just as well off eating them, because the wet sludge of pill binder in your nose will slow absorption)

And, no, you can't separate them with dry extraction.

To be clear I am well aware of the superiority of eating oxy, however the stomach cramps are getting too cumbersome, and plugging is too inconvenient, leaving nasal as the preferred route.

The pills are dosed quite low which will hinder nasal efficacy, which is why I'm interested in extracting. Since a dry extraction is out, is there anyway to extract them with any liquids easily obtainable? The good thing is that there is only 1 ingredient added to the oxycodone HCL, which should make it easier than with regular pills.

I need a liquid that dissolves oxy but not MCC, and that evaporates easily.
Or a liquid that dissolves MCC but not oxy, and then decant to leave the precipitate.

Any ideas appreciated.

How about tap water? Dissolve the pills in a minimum of water and then filter/decant the liquid.
Microcrystalline cellulose is a purified, partially depolymerized cellulose ... Solubility. Insoluble in water, ethanol, ether and dilute mineral acids. ...

^^ I'm trying to end up with a powder. Water does not evaporate quickly enough.

I know that oxycodone is slightly soluble in ethanol, but not sure if it's soluble moreso than MCC

Use heat (or an excess of alcohol), oxycodone HCl should be stable at boiling water temperatures.

Or snort the liquid in a nasal mist bottle.

All the good volatile solvents are 1. not OTC and 2. not good solvents for amine salts like oxycodone.
