Opioids "Aveva" Fentanyl Patches:

Howdy, Friends....

So, I just got these the other day, as my pharmacy forgot to order me the Sandoz brand I usually get, and gave me their 'new' ones... I have NEVER seen these before, and I've had what I thought was pretty close to ALL of them. The Duragesic, Sandoz, Mylan, etc. They have a tan front, and the sticky side is foil/metallic looking, with the sticky part being a very tacky rubber-cement/gluey consistency. So far, I have worn one, and when I took it off, the gluey part looked as though it had un-stretched itself, and left little globs on the foil. I rubbed at it, and it balled up into little rubber balls. (Like press-on nail glue; you ladies might know what I'm describing

My question is, has anyone had any luck using these orally? (or other roa's)? For example, can you scrape of the gluey stuff on a fresh one (or used) and stick it btw your lip and cheek or chew on them for a quicker absorption? Or... has anyone even SEEN these before- just out of curiosity? I haven't! They DON'T stick on very well at ALL, so I'm trying to figure out a way to get my money's worth here, and maybe even get out of pain+get a little buzz off of these weirdo patches. That would be wonderful, seeing as though they were really expensive w/no insurance, and smoking tar everyday (lately) to keep my fibro and MS in check is making my lungs a bit angry with me...

I used to get these patches in 25 and 50 mcg/hr. IME, there is no real safe way to abuse these patches. I have actually smoked the glue and it did result in a nice nod, but I would advise against it, since it is pretty much smoking rubber and other products that lungs do not approve of. I would just wear these for a month and then go back for the Sandoz patches. Just stick with the patches that work best for you, and let the pharmacy know that, so you don't get these patches again.

The only thing I liked about these patches is that it actually stayed attached to my skin for 3 days.

these are the worst patches you could possibly get! they are TEVA brand from riteaid. They are unabusable at all, ive tried every method possible. its totally impossible maybe with a heat pad, thats it. STAY AWAY FROM THESE. Also sandoz has swithed to matrix, not sure how they are. Watson at walgreens is stilll gel and Actavis i never tried

Thanks guys! I thought I was being singled out...lol Yeah, they totally suck. Thank god I'm getting my usual gellies next month... And no- these do NOT stick! They had to give me these weird 'overlays' of some sort that are like sticky saran wrap to put over them, just so they'll stay ON. So basically, I look like a patchy form of grandma's leftovers... Geh... Oh well. Three more weeks!

Ps: FUCK RITE AID! They should call it Wrong Aid. Or, "Yeah Rite Aid" Lol...

Every time I used them, they stuck like a weak duct tape...bitch to pull off, but it worked a lot better than the Watsons or Mylans IMHO.

I'm wondering if anyone is having the same experience that I'm having now: both of my "regular" pharmacies that I have been using for many years have suddenly switched to the Aveva/Teva patches from the gel-filled Actavis.

Anyone else pick up a scrip in the past month or so and discover these in the bag instead of "the usual" they are accustomed to? Is there some reason these are proliferating and taking over the patch market?

Also, any further opinions about which are actually better for pain relief? I tend to prefer the gel patches, but I do see that the Aveva/Teva contain more fentanyl.

As for sticking, I find they stick rather well, but tend to crumple up on the skin and thereby reduce surface area. They also tend to leave behind a sticky residue.
