Authorities in Awe of Drug Runners' Jungle-Built, Kevlar-Coated Supersubs

Imagine if they could control the sub somehow through remote control. That would be so fucking awesome.
Won't probably happen since there are numerous risks. What if something unpredictable happens which results in 9 tons of coke laying deep underwater and unrecoverable? Second issue would be trust - how could the shippers ensure that receiver won't simply take the coke and disappear? It is a lot of money after all.

Trust me, they can easily ensure the product on the other end. Some dude out in AZ just got hit because he tried to play 5M of pot, trust me a coke-sub's recipient would be very, very in-line.
The reason they won't use remote control is because it's cheaper to use people. High tech remote controls aren't even comparable to on-site personnel w/ good gear, and on-site personnel is extremely cheap coming from their end. That's kinda the crux of most of the issues on the mx side of this, the people/weapons/drugs are cheap, and the money is huge - it is insanely different v trafficking within the US.

^ True true, but how cool would it be to just be sittin at your house, smokin a blunt and driving a sub with 9 tons of coke via remote control with a video feed on your 60inch plasma.

Now that's a video game!

Edit: I should add that Sanger is correct about the coke not being stolen on the other end. When you start dealing with organized cartels they know where you live, your family, your friends, and they do -not- fuck around. They will destroy everything you love and make you watch it happen if you ever ripped them off. These people are violent, and they love it.

The people on the sub know exactly what would happen to them/their families, but it's more than that, it's that the sub is tracked, it's not like the dudes just hit the shore somewhere, unload, and walk it out yknow? That sub is tracked, once it's close to the destination, trust me there's no way the sub's pilots are in a position to just bounce w/ the product (not like tons of coke fit in a suitcase ;P )

And it'll be there (remote controlled) in the future, but for now the tech is just more expensive than the lives. Remember, the guys on the sub aren't dealers/traffickers, they're mules/lower, they get dick for that ride but mx is full of people who'll take that risk for a few $k.

This is fucking gnarly. It's also proof that the "war on drugs" is 100% impossible to win and nearly impossible to even start to curtail the importation of drugs. There's just too much money to be made and this fact is made obvious by this submarine. Who the fuck builds a fully capable submarine unless there's an inordinate amount of money being made because of it? The cartels will invent time travel before any scientist does because of the amount of money being made. The only way to divert this illicit cash flow is to divert it to legal channels via legalization and regulation. Why is this not clear to governments across the globe yet? Well, I'm sure it is, but no one has the balls to say it.

Since when is it illegal to own a sub.... Not unless they catch them red handed with drugs in it, it can be someone's toy...But not in the eyes of the DEA ... fucking aye

Really?
/quite sure some simple, on the spot links could be made to its purposes....just the people associated w/ it are likely on the US's wanted lists, so finding the sub = instant seizure/arrests

Who wants to start a submarine tour business down there.. For tours of the jungle and ocean of course ;).... will they seize my sub for my tour business?

The DEA and CIA are the ones who helped them build the sub in the first place. my guess: they built 2 subs, the DEA let them keep the good one, and then pretended like the second one was a "catch" or find for the media. and everyone stays paid and ignorant.

Speculation written as fact, or you got any sources?
/everyone doesn't "stay paid" in this scenario, it cuts the mexicans out, it's circumventing mexico in favor of a water route....which is kind of silly considering dea/cia could just load a friggin cargo-ship much easier than moving a ton at a time via sub..

^lol yeah. Where was this idea when the Soviet Union fell? I'm sure somebody would've sold some nuclear subs to the cartels. I bet no fucking DEA or Coast Guard is gonna fuck with a Nuclear sub that's ready for war, not that they'd ever see that shit coming lol. Run silent, run deep muthafucka.
