Aussie faces death penalty in Bali on drug charges (merged) (Updated 12/26/08)

I sort of doubt that she was innocent. For one, her lawyers refused to have the weed she was caught with analyzed against the weed her neighbor got caught growing.

Her family isn't nearly as seperated from heavy drug transport as one might think from reading this.
 
I agree, Hammilton, I use to whole heartedly believe shcappelle was innocent. As time has gone by and more and more has come out, I really am not so sure.
I think the media saw a story, like someone the Australian public could relate to and feel sorry for and make a big scandal of how drug traffickers are putting it in other peoples bags so they are technically trafficking for them.
I've seen way too much shit about neighbours being caught growing, drug use by mercedes (and schapelle?), shit about her dads connection to drug traffickers and it sort of all falls into place.
Still though, 20 years in that hellish Balinese prison is way out of order if it was that weight of uncut heroin let alone buds!
 
Is she still sentenced to death?

I'm in the US and I'd never heard of her before reading about her on drug forums like this one where lots of people from Australia, New Zealand, and SE Asia post.

What has come out about her being involved with drug smuggling/drug use?

The drug laws in SE Asia and even the middle east are fucked up but that's why when friends of mine went to Thailand on vacation they just drank a lot.

Corby is not innocent, or if she is herself, her family is not. Her father is well connected to underworld gangsters and networks and she herself used to smoke a fair bit. Australians over there dont like buying off balis as they sell to them, tell cops, and get a small reward and their drugs back, that and Bali weed/hash is RUBBISH.. Crappy bush/schwag, where as hydroponics in australia is amongst the strongest in the world and theyll just pay AU$400 for an oz to avoid trouble.

Anyone in the underworld scene over here knows exactly what happened. shes (or her family) guilty but does not deserve the punishment. they fucked up by the fat bitch mother yelling at the judges and not just pleading guilty.. she'd be home by niow... BTW.. When the bali bombers were released on the Kings birthday or something as a pardon, she got one month from her 20 year sentence let go.. what a cunt rub it in her face act hey.

Ive followed the case a bit, not too much but the punishment definitely doesn't suit the crime.
 
It took me like hours.. but I just read this entire thread and it's so sad.. I couldn't believe they convicted her, and she's still in there with the prison witnesses! What the fuck happened to her serving her sentence back home?!?!
