Second dangerous drug batch warning from South Australian police

A second warning in as many days has been issued by South Australian police about an illicit drug batch.

Officers said pills seized in Adelaide earlier in the month were analysed by forensic scientists and found to contain NBOMe.

They warned the substance could lead to psychotic or hallucinogenic behaviour and could even prove fatal.

The latest pills were described as grey or blackish and stamped with MTV as a logo.

Earlier, authorities said a dirty batch of the drug ecstasy led to a spike in violent and bizarre behaviour in Adelaide last weekend.

Authorities said there were more assaults than usual and several cases of people stripping off in public.

A man has been charged in connection with a drug seizure by authorities believed to relate to the batch.

Today police issued a second public warning in just two days not to take illicit drugs after pills seized earlier this month were found to contain NBOMe – a drug known to cause death and significant injuries.

The pills are described at grey/black MTV’s.

This caution follows yesterday’s call by police that a bad batch of ecstasy tablets had resulted in several people being hospitalised over the weekend.

One man remains in a critical condition in hospital.

In early July 2013 Eastern Adelaide police seized a quantity of grey/black MTV pills.

Examination of these pills by Forensic Science South Australia found the NBOMe substance which can cause psychotic and hallucinogenic episodes.

The investigation into the arrest of a 21-year-old North Adelaide man on the weekend for trafficking a controlled drug is ongoing.

However, at this stage there is no evidence to suggest that he was connected with the distribution of grey/black MTVs.

Police reiterate the dangers associated with taking illicit drugs - you don't know what you are taking and you're gambling with your life.

Seen 'the drug NBOMe' a few times, but it never says which NBOMe, theres more than a few.

Hopefully people will see this and will avoid those pills but...you just know some human guinea pigs and lab rats will see this on TV and intentionally take some; but these people are idiots with death wishes and they don't give a shit about what they put into their body and that's part of the game and the risk they get with buying pills, blotter, or capsules that are really one drug but are sold as something else.
