Behind Conroy, with a Chainsaw...
Au Revoir Mnemosyne
For this is the end
In a casket buried deep
You and yours will lie

I strained for words
To eulogise our parting
Finding nothing
But a long dead sense of hope

For a thousand nights
I drowned in you
Choking to the last
On your poisoned caresses

The last sod settled
Turf placed in precise patchwork
My shadow weeps
Silent tears I cannot see

Au Revoir Mnemosyne
May the fates treat thee well
'Till our next meeting
On the dusty roads of life

With this departure
You brought me happiness
And perhaps another chance
To bargain for my soul

Trapped inside the black void
Of the past
There can be no future
Nor will contentment bud and bloom

No more shall you write for me
The pen of life is mine to hold
It was mine own cross to bear
And never yours fair Mnemosyne

*NB: Mnemosyne is the Greek Goddess of Memory.

Hope you enjoy. :)

Listening to the intese ending of Pushit by Tool as i read this, it seemed an extremely fitting piece of music...

plaz despite the amount of things that can be taken from your writting, theres never much that can be said about it... and to be honest with you it shits me no end. but to this one, memory is all well and good, it serves its purpose, but it isnt a substitute for life, as you seem to know well from this piece. i can almost remember a quote about looking backwards while walking the path of life, and bumping into things, that would fit nicely here, but alas, mistress Mnemosyne has failed me again ;)

great work man :)

Well, my boy, you never fail to impress me!

I echo what Harraser said... I guess the trick is to hold onto your memories, but don't let them have a hold over you.

I love these paragraphs.

=D

the past is history, passed by time, chiselled in stone. it cannot be changed, and only useful to teach and to warn or to warm. it doesn't belong in the present, where it will only fester and infect and slowly poison. great piece bro, an ode to letting go and moving on. happy trails :p.

Cheers to you for being at a place in your life that makes these words possible. I'm not sure if it takes more wisdom or more humility to be able to say that goodbye, but you have managed to achieve wistfulness without the sadness. That is beauty, to me, so thank you for adding poetry to my day. And for pointing out something so important.

These two verses keep coming back to me...there's a real sense of necessary tragedy and beauty here...great stuff Plaz :)

Plaz divides emotions so well into letters in a way I never could, that now I look forward to reading his work as a way that my feelings, when similar to his, can finally make it onto paper.

I open each new work of his hoping that he might be feeling the same as me... since I know I could never articulate emotions to a point I could be satisfied with, while his words seem to effortless, natural and graceful... reading any of them is bittersweet by their ending.
