ATTN all BLers: Answering threads which clearly violate BL guidelines

I agree that many PM patients are accused of "doctor shopping" on this site.

Personally, I don't even believe that there is any such thing as "doctor shopping". Certain people need opiates. I think it's pointless to call reasons like "pain" legitimate, while calling "withdrawal", or even "boredom", illegitimate. Unfortunately, doctors don't agree with me, so to get them to dispense dope, you have to play their game...and win.

On the other hand, I do agree that "doctor shopping" is a recognized
"crime"...so in the interest of protecting our beloved Bluelight, we should not allow posts on how to do it.

But just a little food for thought: The way I see it, "doctor scamming" is just a game you play to get "legal" dope. If the laws were different, and all it took to get legal dope was a high score on Pac Man or something, then I'm sure OD would be flooded with Pac Man threads.

The thing is, doctor shopping isn't illegal everywhere, and what constitutes doctor shopping or how a prosecutor would prove it can be very vague.

It's not illegal to keep trying new doctors until you get one who prescribes what you want. It's also not illegal to try to get advice on what doctors are more likely to prescribe the medication you know you need.

We live in a world where patients are punished for having the capability to understand or self-diagnose their own medical problems.

The doctor shopping I was talking about would be having more than one doctor prescribe you the same meds as I think is most people's definition. That is illegal, while of course people should get what they want from their doctors which isn't.

I don't think we were told to though. As long as you don't break the rules then you're all set is what I got out of it.

Sometimes people choose to inform others of the rules

to help them not because its their job to do so.

this site is run by volunteers, everyone here is on their own time. if everyone helps out it makes for smooth sailing.

Seriously guys, the OD staff has to work harder and put up with more bullshit than any of the other forums. The least we can do is give them a litle help :)
I agree 100%. There are countless other reasons as well such as if you don't then the forum runs the risk of filling with pointless threads. May not seem like a big deal but, the quicker they are dealt with the quicker the more important topics can be addressed. In some cases it very well could be the difference in someone's health or even life.

Bluelight is not a democracy. If you dont like the rules, tough shit, go somewhere else.
You dont have to participate in reporting troublesome posts/threads that break the rules, but you do have to observe and obey those rules if you wish to post here.

all i had said waz that i disagree with telling posters they should have 2 inform other posters if they violated the rules.

No one ever said you have to do that. Show me where it says that you have to do that so I can close this.

All we did say was to not answer threads that clearly violate the guidelines.

They didn't say this but I would. Pressing the report button really helps keep the streets clean, so to speak. Everything runs smoother. The mods do work for $0/hour, after all. It doesn't hurt to throw them a tiny bone every once in a while.

People are merely saying if ya did it would help out. Like I said in the very first post after your first and like 6/7 just said, no one is telling you to do anything. The only thing you can't do is violate the BLUA by answering drug testing questions(for example) that's it. I think you're misinterpreting what myself and others are saying. There's a big difference between what you're saying and what the actual rules are. Maybe you should read the thread again because I haven't seen anyone say that you have to tell anyone anything.

Help the mods and your fellow OD members.....or don't. Your choice.

Follow the rules if you can, or leave (by your decision or by being banned and warned for violating these rules). Again, your choice.

Not threats, simple facts of how the place runs. Give what you feel up to giving (advice on a topic, help to n00bs on what not to say, or only your own questions seeking answers which others can read and learn from later). As long as you aren't screwing the place up, giving all you wish to give is all we ask.
