Attention-deficit drugs in short supply

The last time I was in inpatient rehab, I met an interesting woman/child. She was over 50, but had these permanently innocent eyes and was always willing to fill us in on the progress she was making. It turns out that she neds high doses of adderall every day to concentrate on her daily tasks, which consist of being unemployed and completing series after series of mental health programs to everyone's satisfaction. Something just isn't adding up.

I really don't think that the demand has gone up that much in the last year. I mean I don't think that it is the reason for the current shortage. There has to be another reason for it.
