I have more ativans stashed but I'd like to not use them anymore. I have only taken dosages of .5-3 mg when I've had anxiety this year and one too many times and I definitely do notice rebound anxiety (pretty bad) whenever I don't for more than two days. How long do I have to stick this out for? I can't imagine I'm in any physical danger from dosages that low and infrequent.

That depends partly on how long have you been using lorazepam for. You could try tappering off with a longer-lasting benzo e.g. diazepam.

What is .5-3? That's a huge variance. .5 is a small/standard dose but 3mg is a substantial dose. Also how often and for how long? Hard to say but you should see your doctor. I'd say if you can make it 2 days you're probably beyond the seizure threshold but again it's hard to say with the vague info you've provided.

I have used it infrequently, so that's why I'm not afraid of siezures. And I feel that I would have other symptoms (digestive irritation, sweats, joint pain) if I were close to being in danger--correct me if I'm wrong. I have only been using ativan for a year, and never have taken it more than 3 days in a row. Generally I have tried to avoid two days in a row but during finals week I was very stressed and took it 3 days in a row. Standard dose for me was .5-1, 2 mg on really bad days. I haven't used it more than once to three times a week but since the beginning of last year I did introduce it into my life.

However, I do feel rebound anxiety. Today I was really bad but it passed within a few hours. I can slow taper if I sense that I'm in danger though. But my question was how long do I have to ride this out for until I don't notice any negative effects from stopping usage? After the rebound anxiety struck me I realized that even a weaker benzo like ativan is to be respected completely.

When I stopped taking I did so without a taper, though I did have a few pills left that I took infrequently over the course of a month. Severe rebound anxiety (difficult to function at work & in general) lasted 2 weeks or so. I felt completely normal after about a month. Circumstances can dictate alot; I was lucky enough to have a lenient job that let me work from home a lot.

I was taking klonopin once or twice a week for about 10 months, gradually getting up to 2mg 5 days a week for the last 3 months.

This is good news. I can handle 2 weeks. I have something important in a month and I need to be sober for it and very functional (fun times).
