Atheist imprisoned for objecting to state-mandated religious rehab

Actually you might find in plenty of other countries than the US it does.

My country ain't one of them. Bishops on the benches of the upper house of parliament. 26 of them to be exact. They are known as "Spiritual Peers". Fuck that noise.

This sets a good precedent. My problem with AA is that it has a religious angle.

I believe in a higher power but others should not be forced to if they have other beliefs.

AA and NA are about the higher power thing aren't they? It is forcing you into church. The recovery industry seems dominated by religious groups who maybe had good intentions in the beginning to help those who were not being helped by government. But people are forced into this shit while the ones who want help can't get it, it's too expensive. A lot of people getting rich off of addicts. It's pretty messed up situation and the last thing an atheist addict needs is Jesus freaks trying to convert him. I am amazed no one else has fought state forced religious indoctrination in the land of the free.

To be precise, this article isn't about AA and NA. It's about inpatient rehab programs that exclusively utilize the 12-Step recovery method.

I'm really not surprised they're doing this. They've already been doing it by court ordering people to attend meetings. ( not to mention that idiotic "project prevention" bollocks. Paying addicts to undergo sterilisation? It's population control..

Quitting drugs only works if its a choice, they fail to see that.it all comes down to treating drugs as a moral issue

I didn't realize there was a program where they were paying addicts to undergo sterilization..where is this or the name of it?

Wow...my reaction is the same...can't believe it..
I wonder what their statistics are, how many people have participated..
Is this a private organization? I mean where does the money come from? I'm just talking out my ass cause I'm so surprised..I will look at it a lil closer..I'm just surprised..

They paid addicts £200 to participate, probably banking on the fact they would need score money. This wonderful "charity" are saying an addict has no right to produce human life. It's the logical (and insane) outcome of society's treatment of drug use as a moral issue

It's reminiscent of the Nazis T4 programme.
