In the United States hydroxyzine is prescription-only however some countries permit over the counter sales.
It's a first generation antihistamine used primarily for allergies, nausea, insomnia and mild anxiety. Unlike most anxiolytics, it has virtually no abuse potential outside of use to potentiate opioids which is why it's being used more and more recently for anxiety as a substitute for recreational anxiolytics such as valium, xanax, klonopin, etc.

In the future, please review the forum guidelines prior to starting threads so you ensure you're posting appropriately and in the correct area. Please also try the search engine and in general, it's best to do a bit of your own research prior to starting threads. You could've easily found what atarax is and what it is used for on wikipedia or by googling.
