At what age would you consider most people to be mature mentally?

i think that at 16 a person has the mindset necessary to make decisions about their life (obviously not the resources) but the mindpower is there. of course, some people are immature and there are others that have grown up way too fast, like myself i think.
 
it depends on the culture and nation. In other parts of the world a 14 year old knows how to cook, clean, and look after themselves and their family, they are given greater responsibilies at a very early age. In North America a 20 year old is unable to put together a tuna sandwich.

I think there are alot of very smart and mature young ppl..even in N.A.
especially on a forum like BL.
Leading a difficult life at a young age..can and will enable you to mature faster..
but can also lead to difficulty coping with what you know...

I've met a couple of ppl much older than 20..
who couldn't even get the damn can open. ;)

to be fair i have a very high IQ and I didn't know mine UNTIL my senior year of high school. that's not how you measure people's intelligences.
 
What's a social security number? I just thought it was the american equivalent of IRD number (for doing taxes), but why the hell do kids have them?

Because we--in the USA--live in a capitalistic machine. Everyone is assigned a number and then a value based on their economic weight/worth.

Those with the least value have no number and are not completely integrated into the system.

On topic:

I agree that life experiences do impart some wisdom.
