Aspirin Dreams

Dude

The willow has always been known as a tree of dreaming and enchantment, and it was associated in Celtic legend with poets and with spells of fascination and binding. <---- Hippie talk but interesting, related Hippie talk at that =D

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the OP's claims. Sure, there might not be any scientific evidence to support it, but there'd only be some if they were actively seeking out this to prove or disprove it.
I'm not saying he's correct, I'm not saying he's completely wrong. But just because nobody knows anything about it doesn't mean you can just dismiss it at the drop of an internet hat :)

I'll give this a try at some point when my knees fuck up again OP ;)

^^^That is nothing more than spiritual nonsense. It says nothing about ingesting any part of the willow plant to enhance dreams.

What it says, is that the owner of a wand made from the tree will be engraved with the power of the willow.

There is simply no correlation...

The fact that this plant was commonly ingested as medicine and is referred to as "the tree of dreaming" seems to show some sort of correlation. Also, I like how you ignored the dozens of accounts of people who noticed having strange dreams while taking ibuprofen.

I said it was Hippie talk didn't i? ;) =D
I didn't post it to prove a point or anything of the sort. Just a serendipitous little quote I found whilst looking around for any other statements about Aspirin and dreams :)

I'm talking about JR.
I know he would love if there was just a smidgen of evidence (Which there is none) to prove himself right, and it will not happen. Aspirin is so old, I think that the medical community would notice this before all of these random people do.

Placebo is where my count is.
A lot of people in the world have placebo affects.
There is nothing wrong with getting fake effects from drugs, if that's what you want.

a lot of people have funny reactions to aspirin I know very many people which aspirin has a stimulant effect and from my experience sleep after taking stimulants causes me to have very vivid dreams where as I usually don't dream very often or if I do I don't remember them in the morning

My point exactly, people are feeling what they want to feel.
There are no effects of this nature from taking aspirin.

For instance, if I felt that aspirin was a good anti-depressant, would you fall for that?
Are you even reading what you are typing?

Also to note, some people sense very low level pain as malaise.

So, some pain is not felt as pain, but rather an uneasy felling.

That may be why he "feels" better when taking Tylenol.

Took some dispersable Aspirin for my knee a short while ago and fuck me if it didn't make me light-headed. T'was strange.
I don't take Aspirin at all really, mostly use Ibuprofen if I've got a headache or for extra pain relief for my knee (along with any Opiates/Opioids I can get my hands on). So that, not using it at all, might have something to do with it along with it's Antiplatelet effects.

I'm sure PJ will be ready with the Placebo effect bizniz, and he could be right, but I might use it in future as it's not a bad addition to my pain relief "stack" when needed :)

p.s. I'll find out tonight if I end up having vivid dreams, JimenyRickets ;)
Could end up being like DHC dreams ^_^ They're fun and vivid.

Just as an aside: I starting taking melatonin very recently and it's effect on my dreams is very similar to that of aspirin. More lifelike and better recall.

O.K. now you can say dream enhancement. From melatonin.

Melatonin is the shit.
I take 3mgs with 20mgs of Ambien, and I dream so fucking hard, it's ridiculous.

If somebody told you that was all just placebo, what would you say? Because I honestly get more crazy dreams from taking aspirin. I'm just saying that the difference is so noticeable that I have a hard time attributing the effects to placebo, though I am skeptical by nature. Just because something hasn't been thoroughly and professionally researched doesn't mean it can't be true.

"Large doses of salicylate, a metabolite of aspirin, have been proposed to cause tinnitus, based on the experiments in rats, via the action on arachidonic acid and NMDA receptors cascade.[87]"
When NMDA receptors take part in the game, everything is possible :D

I don't think you know everything about aspirin :)

And it gives you lightheaded feeling - I think that means that it acts upon your nervous system.

I hope you see that I'm not saying that apirin enhance dreams. I'm saying it may enhance.

I'm not saying you are.

I'm saying that that might be placebo, or some reaction, (A.K.A. Poisoning effect)
Just to further express that it may be worse for you than you thought, and if it does enhance dreams, it's most likely not in a very safe way.

Wait! Arachidonic acid!

Now you might actually be on something.
Endocannabinoids huh?
This might be the proof you need to convince me.

Do you guys smoke weed when you take the aspirin?
If so was this combo on the CB1 receptor possibly the cause?

I had no dreams that I can remember the night I took some Aspirin I'm afraid.
So I'm fairly certain that it will be the Melatonin that's causing these vivid dreams as it's renowned for doing so.
