Fascinating mankind since the begining of time
Forging celebrations of great slaughter and feasting upon cavern walls
the aesthetic fascination remains

Rennisance painters praised for depth and form
mascarading human life in the only way they knew how
Still worshipped as the benchmark for greatness

Yet, through the cracking oil pants
their insecurities brandished wildly
in a way that few will see
viewing the angst of artists in their true form

what is it we were meant to learn?
does the pain of others really leave so many casually impressed?
slowly, it becomes clear these are not things of true beauty

No, this isn't what we were seeking
ghosts of memories past captured on elaborately gessoed canvas
True art is something else

The sparkling eyes of a young child, anxious to explore the world around them
The tender grasp of elderly lovers
Death and birth as only understood by experience

The most striking creation i'll ever witness appears before me
in the waking hours of dawn
resting peacefully, lost in endless worlds obscured by the fog of tradition

the one we could reach for in front of us
and hold tenderly in our arms
if we could only fight the fear to grab it
and treasure forever

Yeah, if only... I think you've definitely captured something here.
