Everyone was meant to turn theirs lights out for an hour at 10. I didn't know till I googled it at 10 past 11. Everyone in my street will now think that I don't give a fuck about dead soldiers...

Meh. Already had that happen. Admittedly not seen in the flash of darkness but certainly under the cover of darkness (being asleep and dreaming at the time). Won't bother with the rest of the anecdote but the upshot is I don't mind not being a multi-multi-millionnaire and not entirely sure I'd ever really want to be anyway. Lights can keep their lottery numbers for somebody who needs them.

I don't wear plastic poppies or stand for the national anthem and hold a minute's silence every year so would be somewhat hypocritical to switch my lights off for an hour cos... somebody thinks it means something. You can have respect for things without making token gestures. Also, I would've had to eat my dinner in the dark which would be shit. Not as shit as being bombed in trenches admittedly. But that's rather the point - tokenism.
