donate blood

donate blood, its fun!!!!
cept for the big fuck ass needle!!!
donate, so you can help someones lives. the blood stocks are really low!!
its pretty fun, they give you cake, buiscuits, chocolates, juice... the list goes on.
come on people donate!!!!

I always donate blood, every few weeks the lil bus comes around and i donate. I can't now tho or for a little while cause i've got the chicken pox *itchies*.

I have a not-so common blood type so they're always ringing me to come give blood when theres a shortage too.

I donated recently
and was told I have a huge Haemoglobin B level and that I have deep veins so: 'It will take you longer to bleed to death in any car accidents'.

I think I'll avoid that lady next time :(

I was always under the impression that if you've IVed drugs then they won't accept your blood. So I never bothered going. Is that true or do you just not tell them?

i have a hugh heamoglobin count to. when they took it, they were all like, wow whaqt a lot of heamoglobin, then they were like, shit you quick at pumping this out, it normally takes way longer than this.
im a champ blood doner.
they were all like 'your amazing'
and im like ' yer it comes with my beautiful face.'

on the iv drugs things, they ask you if you have, and they do do hiv and hep c tests on the blood, but id say dont, jusst in case you have picked something up. PLEASE ANYONE WHO DOES IV, OR IM DONT GIVE BLOOD JUST IN CASE YOU HAVEPICKED SOMETHING UP. remember, they can tell if you lie on the survey, becauses they analyse the blood.

its also a great way to loose wieght. just like getting an amutation does.

young livers heal quick: it is true - you are asked to sign a declaration as to whether you have used any drugs IV. If you have, you will not be accepted. Please people, don't lie and say "no" if you have. The purpose of this measure is to protect recipients of blood products from any blood borne illness that you may have without knowing. There are a number of other exclusion criteria. See here for the Donor Questionnaire.

Anyhow, I like to give blood when I can (only about twice a year is best for my own health). Sure they use a great big fuck off needle, but big deal:)

Psychokitten: if my memory serves me, they like people who have had recent chicken pox, so you may be of use to them soon! I'm not sure when you can donate post chicken pox though, so maybe give them a ring?

no no no. im sorry
i meant to put in on a separate line, nothing to do with the drug thing. i do not iv, i never will. if you read the line before that line, i said...

id say dont, jusst in case you have picked something up

ive changed it so noone gets the wrong idea.
im sorry if i said it wrong

geeze. youve made me feel real bad now, like ive done something wrong. im the one giving the blood for others to use, im a organ donor, and when im 18 im going to become a bone marrow donor.

ill say it again.
if you do anything that gives you the chances of being infected of anything, from drug use to prostitution, dont give blood.

sorry

sorry for the misunderstanding

i agree with you babydoc_vic

WEEEELLL
to get over that
O+ here
enjoy giving blood
my record time for the 480mL is 7mins 55seconds
(i regularly sneaked peeks on the little balance agitator thing to see how I was going)

I'd love to give blood... problem is that I have a major irrational fear of needles. I've had my blood taken once, and that was 2 little vials, and I yelled and pleaded with him to take the needle out.

Unfortunately thats something I am unable to get over in order to do something good for other people. I think I'm gonna hafta use a different means to give. However, I have much respect for those who do give blood and I hope everyone who is able to does.

I just personally know that I cant handle that period of time with a needle in my arm. :(

stace.

i can't give blood - i'm too small (under 45kg) - which is good (for me) coz i hate needles.... 8o

i am an organ donar tho
bk:)

How many kidneys have you donated thus far? :)

I for some reason, enjoy needles... must be a masochist
I got over them when I had to get stabbed every week for allergy desens :\

that lasted almost 2 yrs until it changed to monthly... :\

Chicken pox isn't the only reason - i'm not allowed to give blood because of the treatment i'm on and the doctor has said not to :(

I have a phobia of needles but I always give blood cause you never know when you need it yourself. I always faint tho, about an hour afterwards - no matter what I'm doing I suddenly drop like a rock. It's really strange because usually if you do faint it's pretty soon after.

I can't donate either. I lived in the UK for over 6 months many years ago, making me a Creutzfeldt Jacob disease risk after the shit hit the fan over BSE.

I also managed to be there when Chernobyl blew, dusting Europe with fallout... Fuck, not exactly the most auspicious time to be living in ye olde England.

funny thing about the mad cow disease thing. places in every country other than england will not accept blood if you have been in england. but... people in england can donate blood. so every country other than england will not spread it whilst england might be spreading it around. seems strange. but nothing can be done.
