What do you think? Obviously they are some type of poppy. Just wondering if they are the infamous kind. I am leaning on Papaver Bracteatum (Persian Poppy)

ofc it is!

There are many papaver somniferum "races", like marihuana , some with more % of morphine, some more % of codeine..

Do you know how to work it? i can give you a link in spanish, dont know if you will undestrund it

the stems and leaves dont look quite right. The stems are too thick and furry. Are the leaves furry ? They shouldnt be. That kind of furry bit growing around the pods in the top pic doesnt look right at all. I dont think they are papaver somniferum. The crowns look too thick aswell. And the shape of the pods looks wrong.

I'd put my money on them being Oriental Poppy. (just cos someone else said that about extremely similar / identical looking plants.)

I suggest doing a google image search.

100 % positive they are oriental.

they look completely different, and have a characteristic droop.

i agree firts pic dosent really seem, but second pic..OMG i have raised oppium so many times, as in my country its grown a papaver somniferum iberic variety, and i would bet money second pic is papaver somniferum. Anyway, i can be wrong , i wouldnt bet more than 20 pucks : P , but my feeling is that it is, specially looking second pic

Both pics are from the same garden. Only that the 2nd pic is about a month or so after the first pic.

I dont think these are the "good" type of poppies and are likely Oriental poppys as mentioned earlier by another poster.

yeah i guessed is the same flowers, but with 1st pic i d have doubts, but looking at the second OMG

i dont know what do you exacly mean with Oriental Poppies, if you mean it should have a little morphine, yeah it is very possible, as there are many many papaver races

I would make, with a very sharp little knife, a little mm how top say in english..:

yo haría un corte con un cuchillo hiper finisimo, cuidado no mas de 3 mm de profundidad" --> like sharp knife, you use it depper than 1mm but not depper than 3 mm ...then you see if opium is being "cryed" by the flower

those are oriental poppies, useless for opium production, but good for edible poppy seed and pretty flowers. the "good" kind have smooth, greyish-waxy stems and leaves that remind you of lettuce. if it has spiky hairs, lighter green foliage, and a black top on the pod... oriental poppy.
