Are there any people that have tried heroin and didn't get addicted to it?

I ask the question because I wanna try it... but I want to talk to poeple who did once or more and are not into it and take it sometimes just for fun!

I tried many drugs, and I'm not really addicted to any...but most of the people say that if you try heroine once you're finished... I think there is no better place to know if it's really true or just a myth!

hmm i think if u try REAL cocaine ur finished,i did heroin for a good while ...and just got tired of driving almost 3 hours to get the shit ,people that went to get it tried to play chemist with it before they resold it

coarse i had methadone to fall back on then

I think it's only one in nine people who try heroin who become long term addicts. However, lots of people go into heroin use with your mindset, and how addictive it is - especailly I.V. use - cannot be underplayed.

It clearly depends on who you are. I've only used heroin once and other opiates on very rare occasion, and I am not addicted to, nor have ever been addicted to opiates. "Real" cocaine isn't any different either, some people can try them and leave it at that, others can't. It depends more on your personality and possibly even mental state, than on the drug itself.

i have a addicted personality sooo when i sniff dope the first time i was like fuck yeah give me moar...

next day i shot dope...

now im hooked....

i did have 5 months clean from all substances but then i went home to jersey from fl

started wit weed then perks then drinkin then xanax then i was going down to camden coping 2 buns at a time... shooting all over again
my relapse was only 2 weeks long... but i could have died in those 2 weeks... i smoke n drink now but thats it..... perk 30's once awhile...

herion is real fuckin shit nothing to play wid... if u think u have a addictive personality then i would not even atempt to do it... iv snort whatever...

i wish u the best of luck n ur gonna do what u want but honestly i wouldnt

Every addict started off by just trying it once. Of course you may be able to try it once then never touch it again.
But what if you try it and like it, do you think you would never have something you enjoyed ever again?
All of us Heroin addicts started by trying it just once, and 11 years down the line I am still doing it everyday. It is just not worth the risk mate.

It's addictive as hell but anybody who says about any drug, "try it once and you'll get addicted" is bullshit.

But yeah be very careful, as said every addict goes in with your mindset. Personally I don't think it's worth the risk but most people do what they want regardless. If it's anything, I tried it and I'm not an addict but I don't encourage it. I've seen the lives it's destroyed.

It is possible to have a recreational and occassional opiate habbit, but it certainly fills a void so I'd encourage you to enter into heroin use with a careful mindset. For me at the moment, I wouldn't touch the stuff knowing that it would probably take over. I have used in the past though, and will do again in the future when things are more stable in my life.

I use it regularly but am not an addict. I probably use once a week.. sometimes more but sometimes go a month or two without using it at all. I'm called what some people consider a "chipper". I am lucky that I have the personality i have. I have enough knowledge and will power (if that is what you call it) to not do it too often and too much. I once went on a week long binge where I was using 2-3 times a day for 7 days straight. I walked away without any sickness or withdrawl symptoms.

However, I do (not so much right now)but I did get big cravings for it and think about it a lot. Especially with the needle. Before I ever tried it I didn't believe so much of what I heard about how you are more addicted to the needle than the drug but I can see that is very true (for me and some others at least). The feeling is unmatched, and the whole process of just preparing it and shooting it and then laying back and feeling the rush is something that doesn't leave your mind easily. Again, I consider myself lucky that amidst all those thoughts and cravings, I had the smarts to stay away even though it was sort of tough and had the cravings. A weaker person wouldn't be so lucky (and by weaker I mean less will, more easily tempted individual).

Be safe and really listen to the words of everyone on this page. Nobody starts out wanting an addiction.. it just happens.

What you would really like to know is whether or not you'll become an addict, is that right, OP? And how about the powerball numbers? Hm? Would you like those, too?

Listen, no one here can tell you how likely it is that you will become an addict, and whatever experiences we have had with heroin really have no bearing at all on you and the experience you may one day have with it.

Are there people out there who can use heroin without becoming physically dependent and/or hopelessly addicted? Yes, of course, and there are also those people out there who do become the stereotypical, purse-snatching "junkies."

It's a total gamble, and not a gamble I would think worth taking. If you do decide to spin the wheel, throw the dice and give it a shot, well, then I sincerely hope that things work out for you, but I cannot imagine how terrible a feeling it would be to wake up one day in a motel room, dope sick, legs shaking, with just 46 cents on the nightstand and in that moment coming to the realization that you fall into the physically dependent, hopelessly addicted category. Oh, and then your next thought would of course be, "How am I going to get more dope with just 46 cents?" Yeah, that feeling would suck worse than you can ever imagine...

EDIT: I'm sending this thread over to BDD. It's not really a DC thread, but I'm not sure it's a BDD thread, either.

I found a tar hookup last fall, bought a few grams over the course of a month or two and smoked them mostly, sometimes snorted some wet lines. Then I bought a half ounce chunk of tar when I realized I liked it and that lasted about a month. Honestly when it was gone I did not miss it so much and had no withdrawls because I was scripted hydrocodone at the time, not much but enough to prevent withdrawls. The dope must not have been all that fire because I didn't get insanely hooked on it. Then my hookup ripped me off for some weed and disappeared so there went my connect.
Right after that I found a coke hookup and bought an ounce of some fresh-off-the-plane uncut stuff and that lit a fire in me much stronger than doing tar. I REALLY liked the cocaine even though it kind of fucked with my head for a while, now I understand why cocaine is a HELLUVA DRUG!

This isn't appropriate for Basic Drug Discussion. I'm going to move it over to Other Drugs but I can't promise that it will stay open, as there have been many threads similar to this one.

B D D - - > O D

Many people think about it for a while after they do it but by all means DONT have withdrawl after the first time
I mean like after you do your first real drug (stuff like pills, coke, heroin) you remember the first experience, hell i even remeber 5 year ago when i had my 1st Joint.
So its like that you do heroin you will always remeber the high and want to use it again, but wont be addicted. Some people dont even want to use it again.
So with that being said when do YOU get addicted to it, when do we get addicted to it, when do people in general get addicted to it, i dont know, could be the 2nd time, could be the 4th time, who knows. But im sure there are people who have tried it and not got addicted.

OP, you started an identical post over in Drug Culture. We don't allow cross-posting of threads, just so you know. I'm going to close this thread since its more appropriate for Drug Culture over Basic Drug Discussion or Other Drugs anyway.

Here's the link to the correct thread. Please don't cross post, it is against the BLUA.
