Are there any health complications to taking LSD or DMT with Doxepin

Hi guys,

i thought this would be a good question to ask you guys considering there is a high level of knowledge on this board.

i have recently been perscribed Doxepin (Deptran) for insomnia, and also to help with issues with anxiety and depression I have been having. It is a tricyclic antidepressant.

i was wondering if I used LSD or DMT if this will have a determental result on my health whilst taking this medication. I asked my doctor about this and he didn't think it would (he said just to steer clear of MDMA - not a problem in Australia as we are having a drought)

Should it be ok, or should i steer clear? I ask because both LSD and DMT operate on serotonin as does doxepin.

There is a good chance that lsd will not affect you quite that strongly. DMT I have no idea if its to powerful to be contained... If it is a anti anxiety or anti depressant It will probably work against the lsd thought ime.

Doxepin has a high affinity as an antagonist at the 5ht2a receptors so I'd imagine it would limit if not eliminate any psychedelic effect from both LSD and DMT. I couldn't imagine any health concerns though.

It won't eliminate psychedelic effects... at least it didn't for me when I used to take doxepin years ago. Never had any adverse effects either. Although I only took the doxepin at night when I was going to sleep...

Maybe it might be basis to basis, on the individual affinity for the 5ht2a receptors?

i should of mentioned that i am only on a dose of 10mg taken at night. the primary reason i am taking it is for insomnia.

i'm pleased to hear that it porbably won't have any adverse health or psychological effects. not tripping would suck, but if that is the worst that will happen then I can easily deal with it.

I've heard of this before, and I've wondered every time how it's possible that someone chronically ingesting a 5-HT2 antagonist could nevertheless experience the full gamut of psychedelic effects. I mean, yeah, most antagonists have distinct binding sites from agonists at the receptor complex, but to my knowledge they still get the job done in a similar fashion. Were you on a low dose or something?
