Are my mushrooms destroyed?

Hey I have been growing a mushroom kit as I have posted in the big and dandy with a myco farm grow bag. Idk exact temperature were the mushrooms are but my average room temp is a little under what is reccomended but I didn't see this as a huge problem as my mate said he grew them in exact same conditions. Unfortunatley, I like completely forgot about them for 2 weeks so I forgot to mix the bag up after around a week, so I remembered about a month + a wee bit in as they were going really slow and I realised this may be the problem. So the complete bottom of the bag was white as should be but the top was not at all, so I figured this would fix things right up. Now its been like 2 -3 months since I first started them an not much change since mixing the bag at the latter then reccomended date. There seems to be off white / grey blob in the middle but the bag just looks like the grain that came with it. If anything its just a bit gray and weird looking, maybe I mixed it too much? Maybe I just fucked it up somehow?

Anyway, I moved them to the back of my computer in a big sturdy bag thing with a few towels over any cracks to keep it dark but they really seem to be doing fuck all, annoying because I have been waiting so long and I guess I will just have to buy a whole other fucking kit. Anyone got any advice / suggestions on what went wrong or if anything has gone wrong? I know theres a big and dandy for mushroom growing but no one apart from people asking questions about grow bags and getting no answers has posted in it for ages. Thanks in advance guys :)

Contaminated, sorry. Any color but brilliant white indicates a bacterial or fungal contaminant.

Go to mycotopia and read moar. They have excellent vaults of information and a very helpful forum base. You need to study sterile technique. Remember that you are trying to grow one specific species of fungus on a very high-nutrient substrate. It needs oxygen to live, which is why growbags are supposed to have filter patches that allow air but not mold/bacteria through. Think about what would happen to a loaf of bread if you hid it in a closet for a month? There are contaminants EVERYWHERE.

Could be the spore syringes you got were bunk.

Was it one of those big bags of grain? They are fuckers to colonise at the best of times.

Okay, I thought it would be something along those lines, guess I gota fork out another £30 for a new kit + syringe, thanks guys

Don't just keep forking out cash for the kit. The kit will simply not work unless you know all of the steps for sterile technique and proper incubation temperature. You need to learn how to nurture the mushrooms. I know the people who sell kits want you to think it's so easy you could do it in your sleep, but mycoculture is a very intensive study that is essentially a branch of microbiology. Read everything you can find on mycotopia.net before you spend any more money.
