Ethnobotanicals Are mushrooms necessarily a "spiritual" high?

It probably opens you up to spirituality in a way that most sober minds are not open, but ultimately the trip itself depends on many factors. I've had trips that were spiritual, some that were fully hedonistic (though not to the same extent as something like MDMA), some that were just reflective without being especially spiritual. Your own intentions, the setting you take it in and probably a dozen other factors contribute to the nature of the trip.
I have not had my views radically change from a single mushroom trip, but I do suspect that semi-regular psychedelic use has made me a more spiritually inclined person. I was never a committed atheist though, more just nonreligious.

When ever I take liberty caps and its a pain in the arse cos there is always some cun@ around walking there dog or just sitting in there car I can never pick enough to get a proper trip but around 25 to 30 will give me a nice buzz ,a nice warm feeling in my tummy ,when I go to bed I do tend to think intensively of the past when I was 16 or so and the people I worked with .weird

The short and simple answers to your questions are all "yes", but only for some people and only some of the time.

It's difficult to give you a better answer without understanding more about your motivation for asking these questions. Since you have expressed interest in trying psilocybin, may I ask what motivates your interest? If you do not regard yourself to be a "spiritual" person, are you perhaps curious and wondering whether you might discover a spiritual dimension through your experiences? Or rather, are you concerned about integrating a spiritual experience within your non-spiritual framework? Or maybe you are concerned about losing your way---becoming confused and possibly carried away by strange new beliefs?

IMO there's way more to psychedelics than "spiritual experiences", and such experiences are rarely had (if at all) without taking larger doses. I recommend new users to start small and become acquainted with the effects at low doses before moving up to higher doses. The onset of a heavy trip can be very disorienting and challenging, and it's easy to get into a bad mind state if not prepared. Familiarity gained at lower doses can help a lot with this preparation in addition to other kinds of preparations.
Any chance I could PM you about it? I want to talk about it but not publicly.

Every curious human should take psychedelics at least a few times. It may not be up your street and then again it may be the most important thing you've ever experienced in life - certainly is for me.

@soulless_curiousity If I am aware of myself being present intending to be open and not defensive then this is as spiritual as anything

OP I've always found shrooms to feel fundamentally 'earthy' as opposed to 'spiritual' - I guess that depends on the individual's concept of 'spiritual' though.

I do think that shrooms can be, and often are, extremely helpful for people to experience though and, if you're considering doing them, have at it

Be aware of set and setting, and take a decent dose. In many peoples experience, mine included, small doses can be more problematic than higher ones (obviously don't go too high for a first time, but just for example my first shroom trip (uk liberty caps - strong af) I took the equivalent to 5g dried and had a fantastic time. 3g could be a more realistic starting point.

Lean into the trip, go with it, surrender, don't fight or resist it and you'll be golden

You just become “crazy” for 6 hours. If you believe what you think at this time and what you see then yeah they can become spiritual, they’re pretty convincing also after all that’s why it’s a trip because you believe your mind and your eyes.
I’m religious and spiritual person(not in the sense I do yoga but I do believe there’s different dimensions and spirits etc long before mushrooms )mushrooms didn’t show me anything spiritual nor DMT , however with DMT had some very weird experiences that in the end made me more “religious” however I know for the fact that all those experiences are due to chemicals and neurotransmitters interacting with each other. If you believe there’s something spiritual in this interaction that’s your belief if not these are just drug effects just like any other drug like opioids stimulants etc

Never been religious at all - all the man-made religions are horseshit. My only belief is in psychedelics.

I'll put my strap-on cock on top of the table here and say this, psychedelics are my spiritual path.
it makes more sense to worship a god than to worship or believe chemistry is something supernatural im not trying to argue its just nonsensical in my eyes but what do i know you could be on a dfiffrent plane of intelligence im not aware of

I believe it because its not supernatural - anytime you want to experience it you can. Supernatural is another word for "made up" isnt it?

well its possible for a god to exist and therefore be supernatural so it dosent entirely mean made up we just dont understand it

God is manmade tho - you either want to believe or you dont. Theres no reality to it.

Psychedelics are real - not manmade.

So what you see and experience on psychedelics is real ?

What else can it be if it's happening to me and other people can get the same effect by taking it? Like Wilko Johnson once said "I always thought reality was what you experience on LSD - the rest is the fantasy"

Certainly there can be no reality to any story made up by religious people - by definition it's a madeup fantasy. "God" needs middlemen to tell you what he thinks. Psychedelics work with your own mind - no need for priests or other bullshitters.

I'm very much a non-spiritual person. I don't subscribe to religion and I try to take a grounded, practical approach to most things.

I've heard stories of people changing their religious beliefs after getting high.

Psilocybin is laughably accessible where I live.

I don't know if it's something I'll do. I would need to prep a lot first, at the very least. The mind is a fragile thing.
But it does make me curious about people's experiences.

Does a mushroom high necessarily feel spiritual? Do those feelings last past the high? How much do your beliefs change, if they change at all?
I was a hardcore atheist until I tried mushrooms lol
