I hate the misconception that junkies are lazy people when 24 hours a day is spent on the go getting money, getting in the process to go cop, copping and repeating its litterally a 24 hour a day nob just to stay well.

I have heard many other "junkies" say the same thing, and i agree, i think they probably work harder than most people. Although, if you really wanna get rid of the stereotyping of "junkies", you may want to stop using the word junkies, as it implies a derogatory tone towards those people's lifestyle.

I don't know if that's even an improvement. When most people think of junkies "getting money," we'd rather they were just lazy--cause getting money seems to imply stealing shit from me.

yea i dont think theres a way to deter the sterotype but felonious getting money doesent usually mean stealing it means, borrowing money, returning something, pawning something, trading something, doing a job that pays cash that day, hitting up people who might want to use the person as a middleman and dozens of other things that dont involve stealing.

Lol as if the "junkie lifestyle" merits any respect whatsoever. Actually contribute something worthwhile to your fellow humans rather than just being a bum who's only "job" is shooting smack into your bloodstream if you want respect from me.

I say that as (a hopefully former) IV drug user with an actual JOB (gasp) and yes, plenty of junkie behavior includes stealing, begging, fraud, living off state assistance and plenty of other behavior that is understandably looked on in a dim light

Well that guy didn't last long.

Some users are lazy and some aren't, it depends on the person and type/severity of addiction

Right now I fall under the lazy category for sure. I am very deep into my addiction right now. I'm not actively looking for a solution right now, eventhough I really should. I've been to rehab twice in the two past years, my will to fight isn't really there right now. It will come back, I'm sure. But relapsing after a year clean did something to my motivation and it has caused me to give up - for now! There will come a time when I will feel ready to get clean again, but that time isn't right now. I am living off my health insurance, it gives me a monthly income for the 'illness' known as 'toxicomania' - basically addiction.

Anyway that's it in short, could go far more in detail but I won't bore you. ;) Yes, I am a lazy junkie! But no! Not all junkies are lazy!
I'm sure that when I find a job it will be my way out of the vicious circle that is my opiate addiction. We'll just have to wait and see when I'm ready to try the clean-thing again. ;)

I agree with this 100%. While addiction does take control of the lives of many individuals, there are a fair few who maintain relatively normal lifestyles (like having a job and social lives). I'd agree that it depends on the person.
