As above really, I posted here because im on about psyvological changes, obviously steroids can have permanent effects. And I guess death from OD is pretty permanent!
So are there any that after a single dose have made permanent psycological changes?

Everything you experience changes you but very few things are permanent since other stuff will happen that will change you further.

What do you mean by permanent psychological changes?

Gross physiological changes on overdose? Memories of the trip? Permanent psychosis?

Most psychedelic drugs leave nothing but a memory behind. If it's a particularly traumatic experience some people remain focused on it and it becomees a new source of misery for them...

ive found with any bad times or experiences or trips ive had so far, i have really suffered for up to a month after, but about 2 - 3 months after, i get the giggles when i think about it lol

Long term psychological impacts are possible.

But hear me out on this one, in a fundamental sense our psychologies are based around our experiences as we go through this life.

Experiences need not be drug related to act as something that causes a long term impact on ones psychology. Look at post traumatic stress disorder, some of the time it is from a long term experience but it can be a single traumatic experience that leaves a mark on your psychology.

I believe many of the long term impacts, be they positive or negative stem from a similar direction. Our brains filter out a lot, you hopefully have a good amount of control over your emotions, but rolling around on the floor giggling is not productive for your greater "being", so our brains put limits up on things like your mood, and general sensory imput. People with bipolar disorder or those who experience massive anxiety attacks are good examples of what happens when there isn't stability.

Post traumatic stress is what happens when those filters that allow us to handle stressful situations are not enough to cope with them.

Psychedelics and entactogens remove the filters while evoking powerful experiences, emotions are magnified to a huge degree because we don't have anything to filter them. To a certain degree, traumatic seems to harsh of a word for the psychedelic expereince, but intense psychological experiences good or bad can leave a long term impact.

My first acid trip ended 3 years of depression in a night. It was like a switch turning on in my brain that allowed me to see the fundamental beauty of life instead of living day by day wishing that I wasnt. Could hardly speak for the next few days, the experience had been a profound one, profoundly beautiful in a way that I can't even begin to describe. Its been about 3 years, and I would say It left an impact on my psyche.

Generally all psychedelics, including marijuana will alter your mind in some way beyond what it was beforehand.
It's simply because certain psychedelics "teach" you things about your inner workings that you never quite understood before.

Take a hit of LSD and tell me if petty things keep bothering you afterwards, you'll see.
Or smoke a heavy hit of DMT and tell me how that goes.

Marijuana was my favorite, When I was first exposed to it I learned so much about life in general and about myself that I feel I could have never learned without it. Acid is kind of like a step above that...
and Mushrooms will make you into a hippy for sure... at least in my case, and some others.. you tend to get more "down to earth" in the literal sense after being exposed to them.

No, they can't change you permanently. If you were an arsehole before you took LSD you arn't going to wake up the next morning and be Bhagwan Mahesh. You'll still be an arsehole.

Regular use of mushrooms does seem to have some permanent effect of improving depression tho.

QFT, mushrooms made me want to never shave or cut my hair again. haha also they made me want to live in a tent, or some shit. I can see why the government dosnt like them, it takes you out of the societal norms.

Well yes, It's not going to completely change you around, unless you somehow had some sort of crazy breakthrough where you saw what sort of devil you truely are, and actually accepted and went through changing this.

But I do say that the self introspection that is common with respectful tripping, (and not those who simply trip for the pretty colors and lights, or to get "fucked up") Will enhance or alter you slightly, usually for the better, though some cases have been made that psychedelics can worsen certain aspects, but then again I feel as if this not only comes from abuse, but also from the predisposition to mental illness the person had beforehand.

The only drugs i'm aware of that produce permanent damage from single (or very few) doses (beyond things like the neural changes that are necessary for memory, etc) are MPTP & para-chloroamphetamine. The latter is particularly good at pruning 5-HT neurons & the former induces Parkinsonian symptoms.

There does seem to be some connection between psychedelics & "deep ecology," i'm unsure as to its permanence though.

Mushrooms (in the last 6-8 months) have only made me focus on what I see is wrong with myself. I haven't had permanent effects but I also decided it will be a long, long time before I take them. I prefer LSD/Phenethylamines. They're more analytical for me and I feel like my mind works faster whereas on mushrooms, I feel bogged down with an emotional load.

It is doubtful anything will be noticeably permanent, as in, I doubt any drug experience will make you constantly think of it. I don't think a drug experience could last long enough to where it was one of the largest aspects of what you think about day to day, as well as the fact that for the most part, the real world doesn't involve a lot of stuff related to drug use-I mean this in relation to your job, maybe your university classes, stuff like that. Of course life outside of those things can revolve around drug use but IME, that doesn't work out too well.

I wil say that my psychedelic experiences have changed me in a lot of ways but I'm not so out there that I can't function.

The mushroom experience is extremely variable. I had nothing but bad experiences like you described, and then one day when the set and setting was right, it all clicked ;)
