Can anyone with experience using both poppy pod tea and vicodin/other pharms, give a rough equivalence between them?
How many grams of average-quality poppy pods is ~= a 5mg vicodin (or whatever). Just looking for a ballpark here.

Its going to be hard to determine, since every batch of pod tea varies in potency. Really theres no way to say beforehand how much will equal 5 mg vicodin. My best guess would be a half pod, but that's from what I was using a while back. I guess the correct answer is there is no correct answer unless you have a way of determining how much morphine and codeine is in your pods.

really? wow.... i just want to ask a quick question since I have never goten a good answer in the mega thread....

what is the difference between making the tea; i.e., soaking pods in water for a hella long time either cold or hot.... and eating the pod grinds directly?

I definately have a better experience with the former, but have not been able to use the stove so I am wondering if I shoudl just soak some pods in water for a long time to get a better effect...

thanx

when you soak the pods, you get out all those water soluble opioids into the water, and solutions generally absorb faster/more effectively than getting alkaloids out from solids, no matter how tiny you grind the pods. You could probably soak the pods for quite a while and it'd be the same as using warm water, morphine and codeine should be soluble in cold water, it might just take a bit longer.

so warm water gets the morphine out quicker than cold?

I appreciate your response

Warm liquids dissolve solids better than cold ones (always).

Morphine-like Opoids are soluble in cold water (hence why CWEing pills works), so it should work fine with cold water, however, it will probably take longer.

I'd really sorta like an answer to the original question, ideally by weight rather than #'s of pods (it's bad enough that pod potency varies - why add the variation in pot weight to that variation, plus the pods i have are mangled and broken). I've been experimenting with poppy pods, and i'd really like to be able to relate that to pain pills (like how we can convert potency between almost any opoid pharm imaginable), but i don't have much experience with opiates (and i can't say i want to go getting lots of experience with them).

Uh CWE works because APAP is NOT soluble in cold water, that is why the temp is cold. Morphine is very soluble in very warm water and less so as the temp drops.

As for the question...It is impossible to give you an "equivalent." As another poster correctly told you, each "batch" is unique. Vicodin is a prepared medication and will always have the same ingredients and ratios. Pod Tea never will/

That too, but it's not relevant to the topic at hand. CWE depends on morphine-like opiates being soluble in cold water just as much as it depends on the APAP not being soluble in cold water. Making poppy tea with cold water depends on morphine-like opiates being soluble in cold water.

I'm going for an approximation or range, a general ballpark, not an exact conversion, as i've said in every post in this thread.

Like how the question "How much DMT is in MHRB" would get an answer of "generally 0.5-2%", not "Impossible to answer every batch is different" - why is this question getting "impossible to answer" instead of a range? If there's a large variance, great, give me an idea of what this range is!

Alkaloid content of pods by weight %? (8-14% of total alkaloid content is reported to be morphine, but i'd think the codeine in it might also be enough to be significant, especially since the oral BA of codeine is 90% vs 25% for morphine)

At the very least, there must be people who've taken pods and other opiates, who can give me some rough idea on this question, who can say things like "I took a tea made with x grams of pods and it felt like y mg of opiate x" and "i drank poppy tea for a while and depending on the batch, potency varied about x-to-1 between batches", etc.
