Has anyone out there heard or tried drinking apple cider vinegar/honey/water 3 times a day?

Supposedly, it cleans out the system of worthless dead cells, heals and prevents illness, increase mental and physical activity, contains a shitload of essetial nutrients, helps digestion and so on and so forth. It even cures apathy which seems kind of odd.

Is this for real or is it just BS?

Hrmm Im not sure how accurate all that is, although ive heard first hand that Apple cider cures/helps light headedness/dizzyness when taken each day in the morning...

Do you mean mixing all of those ingredients together??

...yes

There's lots of info out there but id like to know of some experiences...i dont think il get very far in here.

there was a thread about acv in second opinion... i think you should pm crystalcallus, she's a huge supporter of drinking it!

Drinking a teaspoon or two mixed with ice water several times a day helps me fast with ease. I usually feel good when I am drinking it, my muscles especially feel better. The taste takes a bit of aquiring, but I like it now. You can sweeten it with some honey too.

i think the ancient egyptians used it for wieght loss. One thing is certain though, acidosis causes alot of health problems and cider vinegar is very alkalizing.

Some drug treatment programs here in Australia recommend it for helping with drug withdrawal and its used to fight chronic fatigue syndrome. It tastes absolutely awful but has a lot of benefits :)

What is in apple cider vinegar that is beneficial...? Does anyone have a link or refence to any studies or trials?

I have been looking around , but can't find anything. I don't disbelieve, but I like to know what kind of chemistry is going on. Is it the acetic acid? A few pickles should take care of having to mix it with honey hehe.

Typically vinegar is 5% acetic acid. That's really what makes it vinegar. Depending on how it was made it may contain other flavorings or nutrients (sometimes quite complex ones.) I would be surprised if it has any substantial health benefits in the quantities that it's consumed, but stranger things have happened. It occurs to me that the bacteria in your lower digestive tract would be very happy to get some acetic acid (a food source for them.)

At any rate, there's certainly no harm in a few teaspoons of vinegar if you want to try it. I think I'll keep my vinegar in the cooking. :-)

Taking a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and mixing it with a glass of warm water first thing in the morning is an old traditional remedy to help improve digestion as it stimulates the digestive process by stimulating the secretion of Hcl, which then enables you to break down and digest your food better.

It's used in much the same way as alemon in warm water.

It also helps stimulate appetite.

CIDER VINEGAR

"An apple a day keeps the doctor away" (the dentist too!) - is an oft quotation which should not be considered as just an obsolete "Old Wives Tale", as there is more than meets the eye in these axioms of yore. Apples are among the most health-giving fruits available as they contain a host of nutritious properties viz: Phosphorous, Cholerine, Potassium, Sodium, Magnesium, Calcium, Sulphur, Iron, Fluorine, Silicon, plus many trace elements ....... and all of these are found in PURE APPLE CIDER VINEGAR.
WHAT DOES IT DO?

Amongst other things, cider vinegar is very effective in detoxicating various organs in the body together with the blood stream. Hence it is a purifier, as it has a means of breaking down fatty, mucous and phlegm deposits within the body. It therefore, promotes the health of the vital organs of the body e.g. kidneys, bladder, liver etc., by preventing an excessively alkaline urine. Cider vinegar also helps oxidate the blood which consequently prevents the blood from becorning too thick and gluey, which gives rise to a strained heart and blood vessels resulting in high blood pressure. Cider vinegar also promotes digestion, assimilation and elimination and it neutralizes any toxic substance taken into the body. There have been a number of instances where people who had taken a mixture of cider vinegar and water before a meal were unaffected by diarrhoea, or digestive upsets, whilst their companions who ate the same meal were. Hence the cider vinegar seemed to neutralize the harmful substances in the food eaten.
POTASSIUM

Apple cider vinegar has a potent supply of potassium which has become so widely acclaimed in the helping of various complaints including: running nose. Excessive mucous formation, watery eyes, sinus and catarrhal troubles. Teeth decay and the splitting of finger nails are also signs of potassium deficiency which are remedied by taking cider vinegar. Potassium is essential for the normal growth of the body and for the replacement of worn-out tissues which depend upon the presence of this mineral. It is as important to the soft tissues, as calcium is to the bones and teeth and it also retards the hardening of the blood vessels.

As potassium is so important in the healthy growth of a plant, animal and human, a deficiency of this mineral will produce such tendencies as callous formations on the soles of the feet, or the failure to replace worn-out tissues as observed in the loss of hair.

Tests have proven that a soil deficient in this mineral-salt will produce anaemic and undersized plants, however, when potassium is introduced into the soil the plant becomes sturdier and increases in height. This is also the case with animals, where potassium which was fed to livestock, in the form of cider vinegar, improved their appearance and stamina. Humans too, can benefit with this increased potassium intake. Especially where children are slow developers and appear undersized. A few teaspoons of cider vinegar taken with water each morning will show tremendous results. The best way to introduce cider vinegar to the family, is to substitute it for the ordinary table vinegar and use it in the cooking. Potassium acts as a restraining influence upon those who are over-excitable and nervous. It draws fluid back into the cells, for when potassium is lacking the body cells shrink and their normal activity is restricted.
THE USES OF CIDER VINEGAR

A number of outstanding authorities have proven the therapeutic advantages of using cider vinegar for numerous complaints ranging from obesity and overweight to arthritis. Besides the therapeutic benefits derived from taking cider vinegar therapy, as outlined in this book, it can also be used for a number of other purposes e.g. salad dressing, pickling, a flavour in cooking etc. It also makes a very refreshing drink, hot or cold, with or without honey - this should take the place of normal tea and coffee which are so habit-forming and unnecessary commodities.

Try using cider vinegar where lemon juice is required e.g. in making mayonnaise, or just sprinkle some on a salad before serving; sprinkle on pawpaw for a refreshing breakfast, or just use on potato chips!
EFFECTS OF CIDER VINEGAR ON THE BLOOD

When the blood is deficient in some minerals or biochemic salt, ill-health is the outcome e.g. boils break out, suppurating blisters become apparent, pimples appear on the face etc. It has been found however, that cider vinegar helps with the cleansing as well as the clotting of the blood. Oxidation of the blood is very important and cider vinegar is again an effective treatment for this. Besides introducing the important minerals into the blood stream, as mentioned above, cider vinegar also helps in the clotting of blood. This is of tremendous help to those people who are commonly termed 'bleeders', as they live their lives in fear of cutting themselves due to the bloods inability to clot, and it will also enhance the healing process.

Apple Cider Vinegar: The Wonder Drug of Yesterday and Today

although theres some benifits to vinegar, not all of them have been proven. I use it in salad dressings and cooking occasionaly. if you really want to try it (a tbsp at most) a day to see how you feel then go for it, but if your drinking it for the health benifits alone if absolutly dread drinking it, then dont put yourself through that pain. it doesnt do a thing for weight loss though(i logically know that, but in my hardcore anorexic days would still drink it everyday just in case. gross me out.)

interesting information posted above, i didnt know that about blood clotting. the potassium is also interesting ( i used to be severly deficient and had to take perscription garbage every day). but most of the population has no problem at all getting sufficient potassium and it isnt a mineral that is depleted in many people. the detoxing organ thing im skeptical about, i wonder which compounds they are accrediting this too. the above reading although interesting sounds a little unscientific to me. maybe ill ask a food scientist for some info, im curious now.

a good salad dressing i make has 1/4 cup apple cider vineger, 3/4 cup vegetable oil, 2 tbsp soy sauce, and 1/2 cup sugar, mixed together.
(i like to use about 1/4 cup splenda instead of sugar, and usually cut the oil down a bit and add in extra apple cider vineger, although others may not like this)

Are you joking?

Anything backing this up for real? (ya know...clinical trials, medline, ummm anything...etc. etc.? )

I don't disbelieve, but I like to know what kind of **chemistry** is going on.
DEA brings up some good points...

It may not have worked for you but then again everybody is different. Some people take it to lose weight, others to gain. (its helped me lose a bit of weight and keeps my digestion in check ever since I took it, thats for sure.:D
Also like what that website said and numerous sources besides, apple cider vinegar is different from regular white vinegar in terms of efficacy. Also for gary gnu who repeatedly demands for concrete data about apple cider vinegar, just try searching and READING about it in the dozens and dozens of websites dedicated to it and you will get an idea . Taking vinegar for health reasons depends on the individual , its up to you if you want to take it to supplement your health needs, not to replace ANYTHING.

LOL.. You do understand that there are "clincal trials" out there? Studies, Medline, "Science"?? The webiste you listed isn't a "joke" per se... it just isn't backed up by anything at all. Funny thing a keyboard... you can type anything you want.

Wake up.

He asked for 'information', not 'misinformation'. The site you linked to is pure unscientific hype and garbage. That page didn't have any medical information, just a bunch of unscientific claims. I call BS. Apple cider isn't a wonder drug as they claim. No food is a 'wonder drug'. Thats just pure BS.
