I am thinking about trying to land a job in a cannabis dispensary and I have a some questions:

1) first of all, how did you get hired? Some dispensaries have employment info on their website and others do not. Should I try calling the ones which do not or is it better to go in person?

2)Secondly, I am concerned about references. I mean, let's say I work in a dispensary a couple of years and then want to move onto to something else. Is having cannabis dispensary on my resume going to screw up my chances? For instance, my current job drug tests and does not allow marijuana even if you have a medical card. I can just imagine them at the interview being like "alright here is your drug test form and let's see, it says here your last job was in a cannabis dispensary?" I can imagine that going real well.

3) How much do you get paid?

I don't personally nor have I ever, but I have a handful of friends who have.

1) Go in person, treat it like any job. DON"T go stoned. Too many people think that because they work at a weed club that it is ok to go in completely wrecked. It is still unprofessional in many peoples' eyes. Networking almost always helps. If you know someone it makes it much easier to get your foot in the door, as with anything.

2)Definitely could turn potential future employers off. I'm sure a lot of employers would just skip over your resume due personal prejudice. I'm sure there will be those that don't care at all and might find it fascinating even. It all depends on what field and type of job you think you might be looking for in the future.

3) It is still a retail job, so you get paid like you work retail. Starting is probably minimum wage or not too far above it in many places. My friend that was working and living in SF, which is known for higher wages because of retarded living costs, was making something like 12 or 14/hr. The level of professionalism varies greatly from dispensary to dispensary and probably wages as well. Of course, requirements to fill said position probably becomes more demanding.

until the feds agree that dispensaries are legal, threads like this will be closed.
