Especially zyprexa. I ask because I take 5mg a night (low dose, it's prescribed up to 20mg) & I feel tired all day (5mg of zyprexa is approx as sedating as 100mg of Seroquel which ive also been prescribed before). Im wondering if anyone else has had this effect from APs. Obviously it makes ya tired when ya take it but im talking abou the next day.
It might only be like this with zyprexa though as it has a half life of over 30 hrs & Seroquel (the other most poplar AP has a HL of only 6 hrs)

IM sick of being tired all the time. its making me depressed & I THINK it's the Zyprexa (Olanzepine).

umm it could also be that I take about 100mg valium once a week because valium has a half life of about a week but i dont think so as i hardly feel valium & it doesnt even make me tired 2 hrs after i take it. I wouldn't know if u spiked me drink with 75mg of it the effects are so subtle.

I also drink 400mg cwe once, sometimes twice a day. This MAY be making me tired but I still have a feeling the Zyprexa is playing a bigger part.

I also sometimes drink up to 4 cups of coffee a day. Most ppl are addicted to caffeine but the recommended daily allowance is 250mg to 300mg max. not 400mg. maybe the crash is making me tired. but like i said ive never met someone who doesnt drink tea, coffee, or energy drinks for the younger ppl.

*just drank 400mg iof codeine* I love the effect of opiates. I sometimes do oxy too but the effect of codeine is just as good but its only during its peak of only 20 mins that it has a decent effect. anyways. that's off topic.

so is there any AP users out there who struggle with fatigue as the other options I listed probably arnt the cause. (I have a feeling its the Zyprexa & its long half life)

Does anyone know if Zyprexa comes in 2.5mg pills. Im due for a new script. im going to continue taking 5mg while a half my coffee intake & quit codeine. If my fatugiue doesnt go away I'll try 2.5mg of zyprexa instead.

dont worry i wont quit the codeine for to long. opiates are just to good. ive lived happer the last 2 years using codeine (oxy maybe once or twice a month). i just got a liver test to i can let yas know how it goes if ya want but i'll see if its actually causing any damage. i dont think so though.

anyways.. but yeah maybe it's an underlying problem. I dont wanna think that though. id like to think its something im taking & something i can have control over.

I know it's considered an atypical antipsychotic..
but I took risperidone every night for a couple months..
a long time ago...
back when I had to have an older boyfriend buy beer for me.
I had the same hangover effect.
No...no..no..it wasn't from the underage drinking.
Stop w/the logical thinking already. geez.

I would feel tired and completely unmotivated daily.
But when I stopped..the side effects stopped..
so that worked out pretty well.

You know..I really don't know why I was Rx'd that med in the first place.
I am neither bipolar nor schizophrenic..
as far as I know anyway.
I do talk to myself though..
hmmm..
Do schizophrenics know that they're schizophrenic?

I think your best bet is to talk to your dr. about this side effect.
Maybe another med would work
better w/less problems. It could absolutely be the AP.

My life is also much better w/opiates in it.
It's true love.

for about a year i took 20mg of zyprexa a night and it didn't make me tired the next day i quit about 3 weeks ago though cause of weight gain

just started on olanzepine, well not properly but this week will be my first real week taking it daily as prescribed. First time I took it I was tired the whole of the next too, I am hoping that part will diminish as I get further into taking it.

I'm hoping for the weight gain side effect :D does it just make you eat more or is there another reason for it being a side effect?

(wish brand names weren't used so often to describe prescription medications)

I've been on Chlormpromazine (thorazine) in the past not a big does thought 50mg a day, I didn't really find it sedating but more like a partial lobotomy, its not really in the same as Olanzepine ASAIK though.

My only comment would be that you are taking quit cocktail of substances so whilst the Olanzepine may well be causing the sedation it may be due to some interaction with one of the other drugs you are taking, I'm guessing the prescribing doctor doesn't know about all the "extras" your adding in ? if that's the case they are at a bit of a disadvantage when i come to treatment.

I take 100mg Seroquel almost every night before bedtime. I also become sedated the next day for several hours. If I take a smaller dose (like 50mg) in the middle of the day I become a zombie. No emotions whatsoever. But it's great for sleep.
