It's kind of a shame because this website is a great idea. I finally decided to sign up and begin posting only to notice how pompous the moderators are on this forum. Just wanted to see if anyone else had noticed how miserable and confrontation the mods are. I'm sure ill be banned/thread will be closed because that's how they operate. Anyway for those who disagree just appreciate the fact that you don't have mods attacking every post you make on here.. Angry people being mods = enough for me to no longer use the forums.

I actually have almost always found everyone on staff to be quite helpful & friendly. Rather than getting upset enough to leave BL, maybe you should try PMing someone on staff about someone's inappropriate behaviour.

^this.

if you have an issue with an individual mod, PM the senior moderator responsible for that forum. you can find a list of senior mods here. and if you have an issue with a senior mod, you can PM an admin. alternatively, you can report a post if you feel a mod is being confrontational or unhelpful.

nobody gets banned for simply making a mistake so you're jumping to conclusions here and fabricating nonsense to make your case.

there's a mechanism on bluelight for bringing issues that you consider troublesome to the attention of the staff - the reporting feature.

you've never reported a post which you believe demonstrates poor behavior on the part of a bluelight staff member. so what's the problem? if you feel there's a post - or, better, a series of posts - which you believe show a pattern of poor moderating, report them and we'll take a look.

i'd also draw your attention to the relevant section of the the greenlighter's guide:
the greenlighter's guide said:
What if my problem is with the moderators? Who do I contact?

Please make a reasonable attempt to resolve the issue with the moderator(s) in question privately. If that fails, contact the forum senior mod or administrator and explain the situation. When you do so, remember the following:

- Once again, be polite and patient.
- Include any communication you have had with the moderator(s) in question.
- Clearly indicate the problem and include links to illustrate what you are talking about.

If, at any point, you feel unsatisfied with this process or you would simply prefer to air your issue in public, you should start a thread in the Support forum and we'll address the issue there. As with participation in any forum, please ensure your post is civil.

Bluelight gives a lot of power to the moderators to manage the day-to-day operation of the forums. Making a difficult judgment call or committing a simple human error does not mean a moderator was derelict in their duty. Please note that the complaints procedure stops with the site ownership. If you are still unsatisfied, just laugh and remind yourself that Bluelight is only a message board.
have you ever availed yourself of this process? if you were not satisfied with the outcome what did you do to escalate your issue? you'll know, from having read this, that you are within your rights to start a thread here to discuss a complaint publicly. that said, a vague, unsubstantiated complaint is a lot harder to deal with than a more specific complaint with a well-made case. it's inevitable that it will carry even less currency when it comes from a bluelighter with a history of abuse, drug solicitation and form guideline violation.

i invite you to consider that your complaint will be taken more seriously if you show some respect for the process which has been in place for the best part of 10 years and, for the community at large, works pretty well.

i'll move this to support and reopen it. if you'd like to discuss this issue civilly, you need only respond in this thread.

regards

Totally agree with this. I've never had anything but good interactions with mods here. They don't have an easy job and they do it for no real reason other than they were asked to and they care.

In general, people online are a bit cranky.
The longer they're online, in gen, the crankier.
Especially if they aren't getting paid.

(A few of the mods here seem genuinely pleasant and patient.)

And conformist. Everyone will jump all over your ass if you suggest anything that runs counter to the hierarchy of the site.
And quick to argue with you no matter what you say. Seriously.

Just remember: "It's a website, not a lifestyle."
Take the good with the bad, step away from the PC when the snark gets too thick.

BL is better than a lot of other sites I've frequented.
But it's still a website and the rules still apply.

if that were truly the case, we would not have a sport & gaming forum, or about 5 other forums which came about when the site evolved as a result of end-user participation.

if that were the case, then there would be at least 5 or 10 people still on staff whose behaviour was completely unacceptable for a bluelight staff member.

if that were the case, we wouldn't even be having this discussion. if i was the nazi monster you imply i am, i would have deleted this thread to stifle discussion and have banned you to shut you up...

to suggest that nothing changes for the better here and that staff are conformist automatons is one analysis. but it's not the only analysis and i'd argue that it's demonstrably incorrect.
But it's still a website and the rules still apply.
one persons "the rules" is another's laughable nonsense, or such.

This.

Maybe the OP needs to look inward at his/hers own actions instead of outward and blaming everyone else?

And yet, I find it to be largely the case anyways.
People are conformists. Sorry, hard to argue with human nature.
I think you're confusing the exceptions with the rules, but anyways, back on topic...

Engage.
