Baldurs Gate 1&2 + the addons, Icewind Dale 1&2 + the addons, Planescape torment.

Dragon age origins came close (thats the first one, the second one is crap) to being Baldurs Gate in 3d and without the AD&D 2 rules, but other than that...

Baldurs Gate 1 was my first real RPG (played Diablo before, but that doesn't count imo). Bought it on a whim just cause the box looked good and I had the money. Never regretted that impulsive purchase. I actually had to pirate BG2 because they only released it in my country a few months after it's first release, bought it immediately when it became available. I remember playing that + Throne of Bhall over and over again with various addons. Becoming a god in the end always had a certain appeal to it. The sorceror + robe/hand of vecna, staff of the magi, circlet of non detection, ring of gaxx and a few other items that gave additional spell slots + more protection was my favorite combo. Of course on vanilla this is way overpowered since you just send your projected image + wizards eye, cast time stop, improved alacrity, hit it with spells, cast another time stop before the first one ends, and repeat until your fps drop to 1 or 2. Or you can just let you planetar + mordakinens swords take care of stuff while remaining invisible.

Icewind dale 1 was also great, really pretty graphics, shame the addon changed the character sprites with ones from BG2 which were uglier imo.

Never really liked IWD2.

And Planescape is a work of art on it's own. I still prefer BG2 + ToB but both are great games.

I do.

I loved BG2, i've probably played that game like 4 or 5 times. Probably in my top 5 favorite games of all time. Im getting nostalgic just thinking about it.

Dragon Age was great as well.

Yeah, Dragon Age was the only new rpg that reminded me of BG2. Such a shame that the second one sucked (I mean there are what 30 locations in the game and you visit them over en over). Hope the third one is more like the first one.
