Anyone from Toronto (or Canada/americans who deal with winter)

Since I've actually taken the initiative to go out and buy a vitamin d supplement, I feel loads better.

I'd been talking about it forever and finally went to the health food store and asked for a recommendation in the middle of december. The guy in the store recommended a liquid drop and said that he takes 5,000iu daily, so i got a liquid 2,000iu dose and take it twice daily. It's made a huge difference already, that and I finally got rid of my weeks long upper respiratory bullshit. I'm now feeling at my a-game and would highly advise anybody with winter depression to at least try the supplements.

/ramble :)

^ Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. Watch how long you take that high of a dose for.

For what it's worth, I was advised by a doctor to take 5,000iu weekly for six weeks to bring my levels up (I was tested and at 13--"adequate" is around 25-35 iirc).

Hello fellow Torontonian :)

I'm the opposite...Summer makes me sad. It's like I have SAD but with summer lol. I can't stand the heat cuz I sweat so much, walking or taking the streetcar to work is hell. Then I get in and I'm all disheveled and sweaty. I think it's cuz of my antidepressants I sweat more than normal people. OH and my wardrobe is totally not fit for summer...all my clothes are meant for colder weather and in the summer I'm just struggling to dress myself :(

This winter is pretty mild so far....

So Winter has arrived in Toronto. It is snowing. Time for bad drivers, shovelling snow and -0 to -35 (celcius sp?) weather etc. So Basically good times(bad times).

Well my fellow Canadians and Americans who deal with bad winters how to you fight off the crippling depression that winter brings?? Unless you like winter. Then gtfo of my thread you bastard :)

well over 100 degrees here in Australia, seawater pleasantly warm, went for a long cool swim and surf today followed by ice creams and frozen OJ, could fry an egg on the roof of the car right now.

Mitchum anti-antiperspirant worked wonders for me (until I developed a sensitivity to it 8)). ;)

I live in Buffalo, NY, so that's fairly close to Toronto. I don't tolerate the winter well at all, so I shouldn't even be chiming in on this thread... :-/
