So Winter has arrived in Toronto. It is snowing. Time for bad drivers, shovelling snow and -0 to -35 (celcius sp?) weather etc. So Basically good times(bad times).

Well my fellow Canadians and Americans who deal with bad winters how to you fight off the crippling depression that winter brings?? Unless you like winter. Then gtfo of my thread you bastard :)

I'm not Canadian, but am in Wisconsin & it can get FUCKING COLD here. Winters have always been a tough time for me. I just try to always remember that it could be a lot worse and that spring is just around the corner even though winter may have just begun (like now). That and keeping myself busy and forcing myself to get out of the house gets me through, it is tough though.

Let me just say that crap winters occur in other places than in North America, in Paris it gets down to -15 or -20 °C sometimes :p

I apparently have seasonal affective disorder so I always get really depressed during the winter but the way I deal with it is by rewarding myself with winter 'treats' like hot chocolate or just warm food. Makes a hell of a difference.

Yeah forcing yourself out is a good idea. I find seeing friends for coffee is a good idea. Atleast were not homeless. I feel bad for very few people in this world and homeless people in -30 weather outside at night type people fall into that catagory.

winter sucks i benzo it up every winter or go through withdrawal, depending on how well i have my shit together. WHere i live it barely snows and if it does it's gone in days. It's also rather moderate until Jan/Feb, those are the only 2 really cold months. Much better weather than toronto, tho it rains here a lot.

I moved to Los Angeles. %) =D

I feel very "down" every since the seasons changed in upstate New York. The sun is setting almost at 4:30 now...I go outside, it's fucking cold. I feel lethargic and slightly depressed. Even the Christmas feeling makes me depressed - as in I will be broke, buys malls and stores, Christmas songs and smells implanted into your brain until you can't take it anymore. Driving in snow sucks...plus your car is effing cold when you want to go somewhere.

The few things that make me feel better are excercising, tanning (bad I know), eating healthy or making a goal of losing holiday weight. Hobbies too...such as concerts personally for me. It's still very depressing to me though.

S.A.D. =SEASONAL AFFECTIVE DISORDER IS real. The reason I live in Florida.

Anyone get panic attacks or sever anxiety from the winter i.e your car breaks down in the middle of nowhere with no phone, winter driving, cold weather or basically anything that causes you distress about this shitty god forsaken season?

I agree with you 100 percent. Its only bad in toronto from id say End of November to end of march. So its basically 4 months of shit per year but no hurricanes, tornadoes or other fucked natural disaters ever happen hear. Apart from the times i said its nice here. It gets to be 35 degrees celius in june july august sept. So its just this 4 months that kill me.

I was once pulled over while living on the east coast, and the cops made us wait in freezing weather while they looked over my car without my permission, so yeah, I know what you mean.

Again, I'm glad I moved here. %)

Whenever it snows really bad (which happens quite frequently, and we're getting a storm on Tuesday - yay?) and I'm driving in it I cry. It honestly bothers me that much where even though my car is fine in the snow and I have a phone or whatever, just being in the snow and winter weather causes me huge anxiety and to want to get off the road as soon as possible.

I'm telling you Chris, buying a super-warm down jacket makes all the difference between a freezing cold winter, and a bearable winter

It has been winter here since October.

In regards to winter blues: a strict diet of weed, exercise and video games. Stay warm with lots of layers.
