You know how much it sucks to have an amazing mind opening, life changing Psychedelic experience and not be able to share it with your loved ones (Like mom, siblings, etc) because it's illegal? Why would anyone want to make psychedelics illegal? They are gods creations to communicate with us! These Magical Substances Don't mean any harm. People have bad trips because they are looking for a high, not to become one with god, or have a breakthrough, or to look at this world through different perspectives! When you have a bad trip it is the psychedelics way of telling you that you must respect them, or they will not respect you! Psychedelics are not a substitute for Marijuana, no... they are a substitute for nothing! They are what they are and not something else. Don't do them if you just wanna "feel good" Don't get me wrong, Psychedelics will make you feel GREAT. They will completely change the way you look at this world and everything in it. But please. Please. Do not misuse Psychedelics.

I agree with the majority of what you've said. The ineffability of psychedelic experiences is one of the most frustrating things I've ever encountered... though when you're in the throws of a trip with friends, the ability to communicate your feelings and experiences is much easier... because they're on the same wavelength as you, and a lot of the time that's something I'm really appreciative of.
Psychedelics (even weed) are not meant to be taken lightly and abused, they're powerful substances that can give you glimpses into your inner most psyche. If you're not ready to look or if you've got something you don't want to see, it could be terrifying... but if you accept that and fight through it, you come out on the other side as a stronger person.
I love psychedelics and I feel that they're a very important part of cultivating a self and a perspective on reality. How can you truly say you understand yourself or reality if you've never experience surreality or a different mindset of the self? Psychedelics give you another perspective and by doing such, they expand your knowledge of the universe around you.
I can see why psychedelics are illegal though. The majority of people in the world don't have the same attitude about them that we have here. There would be a lot of misuse, accidents and psychological damage due to uninformed use/abuse. In an idyllic world, they would be legal and encouraged but we live in a society where that's just not plausible at the moment. At the very LEAST though they should absolutely be decriminalized, because going to jail over an 1/8th of mushrooms or some LSD just seems barbaric to me.
That's my 2 cents.

you know theres subtle ways to communicate those same feelings but without even mentioning drugs. try reading the electric kool aid acid test, learn about getting "on the bus"

I haven't had much trouble with it; If asked or if relevant, I mention the psychedelics, but because I believe my experiences and ideas during psychedelics to be fully valid, it doesn't frustarate me at all if the people I'm talking with do not understand the chemical background of it. Since - in the end - even that psychedelics are strong tools for study of universe and self, they still are mere chemicals and no one should be expected to understand something based solely on that. And I am quite sure ordinary folks can experience things close to as magical, say, love.

I feel that im quite lucky in being able to share my psychedelic experiances with my father (who was quite the hippy in the 60's/70's and had alot of experiances with such and such drugs, It's nice to go and have a nice one on one drink with him every now and again, last time I was explaining to him what Mephedrone was (which he'd heard about from the media circus going on at the moment) I think we were both saying it was a shame their wasn't an abundance of inexpensive decent drugs around. If i'd not been brought up in a liberal household i'd probably be an absolute twat and hate my parents on top of it.
Saying that though it can be quite hard talking to my younger siblings about drugs type things as they're tought in school that one ecstacy pill will probably kill you and that oasis will be played at your funeral, SO DONT DO DRUGS!

I feel like psychedelics are fine how they are. They are still around and available to those who seek them out but I feel like if they were legal, they would end up being sold at headshops and shit, and then people who have absolutely no business doing psychedelics would use them and end up seriously hurting themselves and/or others

I agree with KPZ in that it is very wrong that there is so much risk associated with looking to expand your mind with the psychedelic experience. However, I rather have punishment of death for all psychedelics rather then see them become marketed like alcohol and tobacco are and were. And I can guarantee that they would be marketed as fun or happy drugs rather then deep spiritual and emotional tools.

My theory is that alcohol has been deemed "right" (which I dont agree with). If psych's are the exact opposite of alcohol (not a stretch of the truth) then it must be that they must be deemed wrong. The opposite of right is wrong, thus the opposite of alcohol must be wrong. Long of the short of it, government control
