Anyone else think low dose benadryl + opiates = NOT good?

Everyone says antihistamines potentiate opiates, yet I find that they potentiate the SEDATION (and possibly the pain killing, not sure because I only tried them together for fun), but not only do they not make the euphoria better, with 25mg (benadryl) it dampens the euphoria by quite a bit, with with 50mg it destroys the euphoria and just makes me fall asleep.

I wouldn't even mess with benadryl if i were you.

I find the best thing for a potentiator is taking a benzo (xanax, klonopin, etc) if you don't have one of those take a soma or any other kind of muscle relaxer.. And of course you could always just take more opiates.

Benzos do the same thing. If I mix an opiate with any other downer it oblitherates the euphoria and just makes me fall asleep whereever I happen to be. Only combo I've had luck with was d-amphetamine and oxy.

I love adderall and oxy. It's probably the best combo in existence. Anyway - If you don't have any stimulants I'd try an enzyme inhibitor (grapefruit juice, tagamet) or you could drink.. Personally I don't care for drinking on opiates unless I'm cross faded on stimulants too.

I agree, I think 1st gen antihistamines kill the euphoria of opiates and "dirty" up the subtleties and nuances of the opiate high, which is far more complex than simply nodding or being sedated.

I prefer 2nd gen antihistamines with my opiates, like Zyrtec (favorite), as they take care of the opiate itchies but don't cross the BBB in significant amounts, making them non-sedating and non-psychoactive, in my experience.

Try using a lower dosage of DPH (6.25-12.5mg), or switching to Meclizine, Doxylamine, or Hydroxyzine. I like Hydroxyzine over other 1st gen antihistamines, since it has an insignificant amount of anticholinergenic activity, and instead performs its sedative actions through antiserotonergic actions, such as 5-HT2C antagonism.
