Synthetically, opioids do not come any simpler. There are other compounds with the benzylic ketone and the dimethyl side-chain providing a quaternary carbon.
Looks like a useful lead compound, Given the amine has an N,N-dimethyl substitution, one cannot easily extent. a piperidine or morpholine ring results in an inactive compound, I DO wonder if the dimethyl could be expanded into a cyclohexane to increase LogP.
But as far as I know, it's one of the few scaffolds with no legal control. It's most certainly better than AP237 and that junk.
