Anyone else afraid of the dark?

^ Eek, that sounds awful! I totally hear ya though--I watched Silent Hill (group decision) and had my imagination get the best of me for weeks after, despite watching Flushed Away immediately after.

Took me loads of convincing to watch The Shinning, which surprisingly didn't disturb me too much.

A friend of mine has loaned me the movie "The Strangers" which is about a home invasion - i can't believe i actually said yes to it - i far prefer supernatural thrillers (even though they still scare me), but movies about real-life horrible scenarios such as home invasions; no way pal. Not watching. It's too much nightmare/fear fodder for me.

Did anyone else watch Wolf Creek? That scared the living daylights out of me - considering events in the movie related to true events (Ivan Milat backpacker murders in Australia and the Peter Falconio disappearance) :\

There is one particular thing that i can't handle - if i'm laying in a dark room, it's actually more frightening for me to have the bedroom door ajar, with light coming in. There is something really disturbing about it. I far prefer a completely dark room - i think it stems back from my childhood when i'd imagine seeing a shadow appear in the light of the ajar door.

^ I saw The Strangers, but it wasn't particularly scary - or even good. Never watched Wolf Creek, although a friend of mine does own a copy. I think the cover and the description on the back were enough to put me off!

I used to be when I was little. I watched too many shows about demonic possession and was positive that if I was left alone in the dark, the devil would get me 8)

Because of this, I slept with the lights on until I was about 10 I wanna say. I started noticing eye problems around that age and when we went to the doctor, we found out that they were a result of being exposed to so much light. Apparently I sleep with my eyes partially open (only a little bit, definitely not all the way) and your eyes just aren't built to handle light 24/7. They found a line of scar tissue in each eye. He gave me glue to glue my eyes shut at night and I thought, "No effing way."

Around this time my dad moved out and into a condo that was in the city. My bedroom was still light inside, even with the lights off at night. This sort of eased me into sleeping with the lights off and now I've gotten to the point where I can't sleep with them on. Naturally I no longer have any eye problems.

Now I kind of enjoy the dark!

^ I'm my own worst enemy when it comes to scary movies. A couple of nights ago I made the mistake of watching Paranormal Activity right before bedtime... when I finally went to bed I was lying there in the dark, just imagining the sound of ghostly footsteps walking along the hallway outside my room. :\

Aww. I know how you feel. I used to be so scared of ghosts... up until pretty recently, actually.

Then I realized that I've never truly had a paranormal experience and that 99% of it can be explained. For the other 1%, I guess I can understand why people might be scared of ghosts. Ever since I came to my conclusion that they aren't real, I haven't had any problems with being afraid, even when staying in supposedly haunted houses :P

I completely understand that actually hun.
