anyone collect stems?

PART 1 - 2009 - 7 - 31
i've collected over quarter oz of stems from various times/buds. i was able to shake it and filter through mesh screen.
i got at least 3 grams of shakes out of it. now the stems are pretty useless as i could've made tea with it.

the stems are collected over the past two years. it contains at least 10+ different kind of buds. i rolled up a joint and was higher than ever.

2nd extraction from same bag

1. using a strainer cup i got from hardware store

3. pick up stems by using a small scissor. FINAL PRODUCT - SHAKES

wow thats freaking insane. props dude. i had about 3.7g of stems and made some special tea out of them. i loved the taste and had one of the longest highs ever
 
Shit that's a lot of stems. I usually smoke 'em. No use letting them go to waste but I like the tea idea a lot better.
 
Yeah... I wish I had the self control to save them. I usually end up with a small pile of them when I'm done with my monthly quarter, but end up smoking them bit by bit to stretch bowls here and there.
 
hell ya man i got like 2 grams of stems right now i am waiting till i get about a quarter then get all the shake from them and then make tea ^_^
 
I save every stem and leaf I can, when I get about 14-28g.. I grind it up into a fine powder and run butane through it into a bowl(King, Nibo, Ronson have worked for me).

I then place what appears to be a bowl of butane into a seperate bowl of very hot water, therefore causing the butane to evaporate.

when all the butane has evaporated off I am left with a sticky golden honey colored film in the bowl(honey oil).

I now have a bowl of one of the most potent forms of THC you can come across. It cost me $2.99 for the can of butane, and a bunch of sticks and stems I didn't wanna smoke.

If you do anything other than this, you've let yourself down and wasted your stems and leaves.

i'm always nervous about the butane, but all my iso extractions have been dissappointing. how difficult/dangerous do you feel your process is?
 
I just did it in 10 minutes, the worst that could happen with a can of butane is you'll catch it on fire when its in the bowl(I've never had this happen).

I find it very easy and non-dangerous, also very rewarding.
 
you'll be amazed and angry for not doing it sooner, look up "butane honey oil extraction" on google for several guides that have been put together on the procedure. People have blown themselves up doing this, so it's better to be safe. I started out doing it outside as you're supposed to be in a well ventilated area, but if you're doing a single can I think you should be alright(I just did it in my basement).

I haven't been on these boards since I used to use a lot of ecstasy back in 2005, was checking if they were still around :P
 
I had a pretty decent stem collection back when I was selling more, a big stem collection can make for a nice batch of "free" brownies ;)

Smoking them is a waste.
 
^also remember that tea needs to have lipids (milk/cream/butter) in order to absorb the cannabinoids.
 
How did you get all that weed off the stems? I pick my stems clean, make sure I get every bit of green of of them. You must of purposely had that shit on there.

I wish I had that 4 grams of shake.
 
Ive never really saved them personally but I have a friend who makes green dragon from them

A few shots of that will surely get you stoned :)

yeah that honey oil method works better on buds instead of stems
but i still find it dangerous to do so i've never attempted

i usually pick pretty clean as i use scissor a lot but i guess there are still left overs.

last time i did that with quarter oz of stems and 2 grams of bud. left it for two~three weeks. had a shot and was drunk & stoned =D i don't like the drunkness though :|

it works the exact same actually.

using bud is just a lot less cost efficient, if you have a ton of money or weed to blow, then by all means go ahead.

The end product will be the same, bud will yield higher than shake though due to containing more THC than its stem/leaf counterparts.

I would not use bud that wasn't moldy or dirt cheap for this.
 
I used to do the same thing.

- grind it up, mix it with keif, and smoke it.

- make brownies with it and a little bud (few grams)

- make tea with it

- make coffee with it

Stems can come in handy if you can save them all like the OP
 
I've never saved up very many stems. I used to try to, then I'd run out of weed and smoke the stems. Now I just toss them.
 
About a week ago we were sitting in the house and only me and one other was awake, no weed no nothing, bored, nothing to do all day, so we realize we have a masonjar full of stems, aparently was collected from one night of lots of pot smoking but I wasnt there, we made hash out of it. What we did was put water into the mason jar of stems, put a blender piece thing in there and blend it up, then pour some of that water onto a certain sized coffee filter, hold it and let it filter out all the water, then let it sit out and dry and repeat, got layers of hash on all those coffee filters!!

Point of the story is, collecting stems is useful
