I've only taken the 10mg ones and they knocked me the fucked out. I now am holding like 5 50mg ones which i could probably sell to tweakers (lol), when they want to get knocked out after being up for days so they could sleep. But i'm afraid 50mg is too much. Has anybody ever tried this wonderful sleep meds alternative?

I used Doxepin for sleep for a short time while trying to find a good med combo for anxiety and depression. Unfortunately, Doxepin is prescribed in doses of 3-6mg for insomnia, and does a great job. However, similar to the drug seroquel, higher doses become less sedating. Doxepin is used to treat anxiety and depression at doses from 75-300mg.

50mg will still certainly still have sedative effects, but you may find that 10mg was more sedating.

I don't have that much experience with it. But my bf says that he has went from 10-75mg for sleep. He was on it for a few months, so chronic use might be a bit different.

I really dont know a ton about the use of doxepin for depression and anxiety. I just know that the dosage is much higher than it is for insomnia. With Increase in tolerance its possible more must be taken to obtain the desired sedative effects, but after a certain dose it will no longer cause more sedation.

I dont know about long term use of doxepin for insomnia. It may only be a short/moderate term solution.

I always keep around some 100mg tabs for emergencies, that is, if I can't get to sleep at all but have to function the next day. 50mg knocks me out within an hour, but as I said, I only dose on rare occasions, maybe twice a month or so, depending on circumstances.

I'd strongly suggest not taking doxepin daily, tolerance builds quickly and the side effects (dry mouth, grogginess in the mornings) become more pronounced, at least that's what I've heard from people hooked on the stuff (yes, it is addictive).

Withdrawal doesn't seem to be too bad though, a bit of shaking and trouble sleeping for a couple of days, but all of this is second-hand information as I've never been addicted to this substance, so please correct me if I'm mistaken.

Good to know that lower doses work just as well for sleeping purposes, always great to learn something new (and make my stash last longer :)).
